Thomas Marlowe Obituary

Thomas "Richard" Marlowe, age 73, of Lenoir passed away Monday, December 5, 2022 at Amorem Hospice. He was born January 25, 1949 in Buncombe County to the late Thomas Benjamin Marlowe and Edith Nesbitt Marlowe. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Smith Marlowe; one brother, Roy Wayne Marlowe, and one infant brother.

Mr. Marlowe was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, former Postmaster of the U.S. Postal Service, and past President of the National Association of Postal Supervisors.

Those left to cherish his memory include his significant other, Patricia Grant of Lenoir; one son, Brian Marlowe and wife Jamie Furr Marlowe of Winston-Salem, NC; two sisters, Carolyn Marlowe Waddell of Kentucky, and Ann Marlowe Horne of Mills River, NC; two beloved grandchildren, Jacob Brian Marlowe and Emily Scott Marlowe; the children of Patricia Grant, Jenna Bumgarner, Evan Bumgarner, Marie Saunders, and Tristan Saunders; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church of Lenoir conducted by Rev. Dr. David Melton.

A reception will immediately follow the service in the Christian Life Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Amorem Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street NE, Lenoir, NC 28645; or First United Methodist Church of Lenoir, Christian Service Fund, 309 Church St NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
