I hope this message finds the family well. I know it is late but I am only now learning of his passing. College was a tough time for me and Dr Melvin is the only reason I made it out of there with a degree (and my sanity). We also bonded over hiking stories and he shopped at Eatern Mountain Sports where I worked at the time as well. So I had a great connection with him. He was a great man and accomplished so much. I only regret not being able to thank him again for how he helped me all those years ago. My deepest condolences to his family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Melvin family! I wish that I could be there to pay my respects in person. Although it has been a long time since I've seen your dad, growing up, I can only remember his kindness, patience and positive attitude. He did a great job raising you all and I know he will be missed.

Jack, Brian, Janet and Tim, I admired your dad. He always had a kind word and great personality. All of you came from great stock. He was truly a good and decent man. Rest in Peace Tom and God Bless the Melvin Family.
