Thomas George Rasmussen

Thomas George Rasmussen, age 89, a 40-year resident of Rochester Hills, MI, and 6-year resident of Jackson, MI, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home surrounded by family on October 26, 2024. Tom was born on May 6, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Thomas Rasmussen and Joan Graham.

Tom was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Gail (Miers) Rasmussen. He is survived by his daughter Laurie (William) Rowland and son Thomas (Wendy) Rasmussen. Tom had four loving grandchildren: Alaister Corey, Lindsay Rasmussen, Brooke (Austin) Fecteau, and Allison Rasmussen.

Tom attended primary school and high school in Detroit, MI. He attended Alma College for one year, participating in cross country and band. He then joined the Army, under the G.I. Bill, allowing him to earn his Bachelor's Degree in History at Michigan State University where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He subsequently graduated with a Law Degree from the Detroit College of Law. Tom enjoyed his early career as a social studies teacher in the Lincoln Park school district, followed by his career as a real estate attorney in the title insurance industry. He later opened his own business, Clinton Valley Title Company, and was a dedicated employer who always put his employees first. He was very active with his children and grandchildren and worked hard to give his family the life he did not have growing up. Tom loved watching Detroit sports and Michigan State football, taking care of his lawn, and was proud of his Danish and Scottish heritage. He was a history buff with a particular interest in the American Civil War and World War II. He was an active member of the Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ. He greatly enjoyed cruises with his wife and traveling to northern Michigan and Florida with his family.

Memorial services will be held at White Lake Presbyterian Church, 4805 Highland Rd, White Lake, MI on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11 AM. Visitation will be held at the same location prior to the service, beginning at 10 AM.
