Thomas Tone Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 20, 2005.
TONE, Thomas Jefferson (September 16, 1945 - April 29, 2005) Jeff of Tuscon, Arizona, passed away on Friday, April 29th, 2005, after a battle with cancer at the age of 59. He was born to Jean Wallace and Franchot Tone in Los Angeles, California, September 16, 1945 where he lived until 16 years of age. At that time he moved to New York City to live with his father. He then spent the next 18 years living between N.Y.C. and New Canaan, Connecticut. In 1977, at the family cottage north of Ottawa, 31 Mile Lake, he met his future wife, Momo Laframboise. Six years later they were married and produced Jeff's sole heir Thomas Coulson Tone born July 17th, 1985. Jeff lived in Ottawa from 1979 until moving to Tuscon in 1992, where he lived during the winter months and the family cottage during the summer. Jeff is survived by his son Coulson, his brother Pascal Tone and Pascal's two children Lesley and Franchot II. He is fondly remembered by all of his friends and extended family. His presence will be greatly missed this summer at the gathering of the Tone Clan at the cottage. He always remained a loving member of the Laframboise family in Ottawa and is remembered with great fondness. Jeff had a magical presence, gallant and charming and all will miss him. In the last months while battling cancer, Paul and Nancy Peterson, were dear to Jeff and we thank them for their caring and friendship. Friends and family are welcome to join the memorial service to be held in Jeff's honour. We would like to celebrate the joy he brought so many of us. The service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 16th at the Catholic Church; Notre Dame du Secours Perpetual, Pointe Comfort(e), Quebec. We were so sorry to learn of Jeff's death. He was such a charming guy! Gallant, fun and intelligent. A "Man for All Seasons". Such an accomplished man and so "old-wordly", yet at the same time so very "with it". He had a presence about him that we all respected. Above all, he was a great father to his beloved son. Always available and a good teacher about the wonderful ways of the Gatineau Fish & Game Club and 31 Mile Lake. What a legacy to leave a son! Handsome, charming, boyish, gallant. That is how we remember Jeff. Best regards, Nancy and Brian Marley-Clarke.

I was so sad to hear the news. I have so many wonderful memories of Jeff, seeing him every summer at the GFGC for the last 23 years.

What a wonderful Chef and a great guy! I can still see him walking up the Ridge to the club for Saturday night dinners with that fantastic smile. Always so charming!

I am sorry that I won't be able to make it up to the cottage on July 16th for the service but I will be with all of you in spirit.

I send my warmest wishes to Coule, Pat, Fanchot, Lesley and to the Tone Clan and all those who will miss Jeff.

I hope to see all of you this summer at the lake.

Lots of love Sarah
