Thomas True Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 20, 2025.
Stuart - Thomas D. True, of Stuart, FL passed away Friday, January 17th, 2025. A Celebration of his life will take place at 3PM Saturday, February 1st, 2025 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Stuart, FL by the reverend Paul Hartt, with visitation beginning one hour prior at 2PM.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Allien True. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda True; four children Heather Maynard (Steve) of Daniels, WV, Cortney Castle (Jeff) of Middleburg, FL, Jon True (Caroline) of Huntington, WV, Chris True (Marsha) of Fort Mill, SC, eight grandchildren, Jamie Bond (Adam), Parker Maynard, Savannah Castle, Gunnar Castle, Harper True, Merritt True, Tatum True and Teague True, and two great grandchildren, Greer Bond and Jack Bond as well as a host of in-laws and close friends.

Tom grew up in Elwood, IN and graduated from Anderson High School in 1964. He attended Ball St. University where he met his wife, Linda Roberts. Tom spent most of his career in finance, including a stint with Ashland Finance that moved him to WV where he would raise his family for the next 37 years. Tom and Linda enjoyed spending time with their children boating, waterskiing, snow skiing, vacationing at Myrtle Beach and Fripp Island, and watching and traveling for soccer from grade school through high school. He ended his career with Acordia Investment Group before retiring in 2000. He was also a beloved ski instructor for many seasons at Winterplace Ski Resort and shared his love of the sport teaching many friends, and his children's friends how to ski. He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Beckley, WV and St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Stuart, FL. Tom was an avid golfer, playing many rounds with lifelong friends and family at his beloved Glade Springs courses. He felt very fortunate to have the opportunity to spend his retirement years in Florida playing year round golf with friends at Heritage Ridge, dining out, spending days at the beach, attending happy hours with their Summerfield group, and easy access to impromptu cruises with dear friends. Tom loved cheering on "The Herd" and Pittsburgh Steelers, and watching golf tournaments on TV.

Tom and Linda loved being involved in the lives of their grandchildren and great grandchildren, attending dance recitals, school performances and sporting events. Tom took so much pride in his role of being a Gramps and would often announce, looking around at his family, "he was the luckiest guy in the world!"
