Thomas Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 14, 2025.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Anthony Williams on February 16, 2025, at the age of 80. Tom was born on February 29, 1944 in Cover Dalene Idaho to Hank and Leona Williams.

Tom grew up in Arvada, Colorado, and in 1962 joined the US Army where he trained for his pilot license. After his service in the military he headed west to California. He made it as far as Las Vegas, Nevada, where he would live and work for many years as a pilot. He first flew excursion flights over the Grand Canyon, and would eventually work for Casino owner, Steve Wynn, where he would fly many celebrities in and out of Las Vegas. It was a colorful time in Las Vegas and Tom had the most interesting stories of his time there.

Later he would live and work as a pilot in various cities in the eastern United States, eventually "landing" in Jupiter Florida where he would continue his flying career, along with other endeavors including managing a night club for Burt Reynolds. He would remain in Jupiter where he had many cherished friends until his death.

Tom is survived by his youngest sister, Ruth Overby, His beloved dog, Lucy, along with several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his son, Tom Wilcox. Parents Hank and Leona Williams. Sisters and brothers, Edith Perigo, Howard Williams, April Hogland, and Larry Williams.

There will be a service for Tom at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth FL, where he will be laid to rest with Military Honors. For anyone who would like to pay their last respects the service will be Monday, May 5th, at 1:00 p.m.

For additional information, friends may contact Tom's niece, Cindy Mues, at [email protected] or by phone 303-808-7747

Had some good times flying around the desert. I recall the tri-pacer we ferried from Kansas city to Las Vegas one summer. A good trip. I'll miss him.

I knew something was up when I tried to call him on his birthday this year...the leap year guy!
I flew with Tom for 8 years out of FLL and OPK. We went all over Europe, South America and even Israel. We made many North Atlantic crossings and talked a lot about many things. He had a great perspective, a patriot and an adventurer. We were flying 9/11 coming home from Europe that day...
The one thing about Tom was that he was always the first guy in the lobby before a flight.
He loved NASCAR, the PGA and his dog and I loved his stories about Las Vegas flying out of Hughs Aviation.
He was a believer in Jesus so I know I'll see him again....I'll miss him on this end.

Tom Williams was one of my favorite people and a dear, dear friend. Tom was the manager at Backstage, a popular nightclub
& restaurant, back in the early 90's when I had a singing engagement there. He was wonderful to work for and we remained friends long after the establishment closed and up until his recent passing. He was always even tempered, kind, considerate and sincere and I will miss him every day.

Tommy was a great friend and a stand up man. It was a pleasure to have have known him for 30 plus years. He had so many interesting stories to tell over the years. Las Vegas for one. Pilot for Circus Circus, Steve Wynn and not only flew celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, but for former president George H.W. Bush and his wife. Rest in peace my friend and thanks for the opportunity to have known you. Keep flying my friend. Frankie Argenziano
