Timothy N.T. McCarthy

Tim was son to Leonard Thomas "LT" and Katherine "Catita" (Igna) McCarthy. Born in Detroit Michigan. Coming home to wife Marge, brothers Pat, Terry, Sean, and brothers-in-law Tom and John. Brother to Maureen, Michael, Beanie, Kevin, Mary and Bridget. Father to Casey, Brendan (Romy) and Colin. Grandpa to Meghan, Brynn, Keagan, Mason, Lucas and Sophia. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Tim leaves behind many friends, colleagues and golf partners, from Detroit to Milwaukee, and everywhere around and in-between. Tim lived his early life on the streets and in the neighborhoods of Detroit. An altar boy at one moment, big-time caddy and newspaper shark at other moments. Athletic & sawed-off, with tough, competitive older brothers who all played the "four balls": football, baseball, basketball and golf. A scholar with a poet's heart and a lion's eyes. Occasionally impish. A graduate of Cathedral Central HS in 1960. US Army MP veteran stationed in Germany. Didn't see Elvis but did see The Alps. Came home and met Margaret (Marge to most or Maggie to the McCarthy clan) who he made his bride for life. Gifted salesman and life-long friend maker, Tim found a home in the HVAC industry, working his way up from the counter to successful salesman and mentor for multiple organizations over a 40-plus year career. He was a free-range dad who let his sons discover the world, one neighborhood at a time. He let his sons choose their own punishments when they got into trouble. Unfortunately for them, he was a tough negotiator. He connected with his sons through his love of sports. Baseball. Football. Soccer. Golf. Being involved as a coach and fan brought him great joy. Getting out and hitting the golf ball around was his church. He was happiest with Marge when they traveled together, the warmer the better. Retired in Gold Canyon, Arizona, where the greens were quick, the cactus needles long, and the sunsets amazing. He enjoyed reading, trivia, puzzles, history and politics. Tim loved to debate. Sometimes passionately. Kicked cigarettes and booze to the curb and after a few years of clean living, Tim was diagnosed with MS. He spent over 20 years battling cancers (and won). He saw the loss of Marge to dementia. He eventually ran out of kicks before he was summoned to the Lord's gate, where he took the Lord's hand and walked into heaven after fighting the good fight with MS. He went out a winner.
