Resident of San Jose
Tristan Alejo Nguyen passed away on Monday during track practice at his high school. Touching many lives, he has been described by friends as kind, generous, funny, and inspiring.
Tristan was born in San Jose, CA and was a junior at Leland High School. He played on the Varsity Football team and was a member of Track and Field as a shot put and discus thrower. During his freshman year, he played on the JV volleyball team. He held a black belt in Karate.
Tristan is survived by his loving parents, Joyce and Joseph; dearest siblings Jessica and Travis; devoted grandparents Lolita and Rosalino Alejo of Gardena and Cut Nguyen of Santa Ana. He is also survived by Aunts and Uncles Philip & Thao Nguyen of Texas, Mary & Dean Crounse of Irvine, Julie Nguyen of Mission Viejo, Nina Nguyen of Santa Ana, Gigi & Gilbert Rocca of Hawthorne, and Darlene & Michael Cantriel of Concord as well as his cousins Kevin, Tommy, Peter, Chloe, Francesca, Eryn, Devin and Alyssa.
Friends and Family are invited to attend the Vigil Service on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 3:00P.M with Visitation beginning at 12:00P.M at LIMA-CAMPAGNA-ALAMEDA MISSION CHAPEL, 600 S. 2nd Street, San Jose. Funeral Mass Monday, March 23, 2015 at 10:00A.M at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1200 Redmond Avenue, San Jose. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Los Altos.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Tristan to: Tristan Nguyen Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Leland Athletic Booster Club, 6677 Camden Ave., San Jose, CA 95120 or Sacred Heart Community Center 1381 First Street, San Jose, CA 95110.

Though I was not personal friends with Tristan, I can remember from a very young age seeing him ride around our neighborhood. He would usually be with all his family and friends on their bikes riding and having a good time. If there's one memory of Tristan I have it was of him being an outgoing kid and enjoying life. Tristan was truly such a great character and an amazing athlete. I will never forget being on kick return with him and being extremely terrified of the ball coming towards us. I am still in denial that you're gone, it has not really registered in my mind yet. Rest in peace my friend.

It's been a while since I've seen or talked to you, but during the time that we hung out it was clear what a humorous, loving, and caring friend you were. I met Tristan in karate and at first I thought of him as a quiet person who kept to himself, but he was a really great friend. He was a great person with a great smile and laugh. He was a positive person and a an amazing partner in karate. I'm very surprised and sad to hear what happened. Tristan was an amazing person who I will miss deeply.
