Troy Wilcox Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 6, 2017.
Troy A Wilcox Jr lost his battle to Opioid addiction at home on September 3, 2017. He was born July 28, 1991 in Dover, NJ to Claire Esposito of Franklin, NJ and Troy Wilcox Sr of Denville NJ. Troy was a graduate of Wallkill Valley High School and he attended Anthem Institute and earned a diploma in Computer Network and Security. He was working on his Bachelor's Degree in Network Design and Management from Western Governors University.

Troy is survived by his sister, Kendra Wilcox, fiancé Kyle Ross and their son Eli Thomas. He also leaves his maternal grandmother, Norma Laverty of Rockaway and his paternal grandmother Lois Wilcox of Denville. He is also survived by his Aunts and Uncles; Donna and Joseph of Genzone and Daniel and Shannon Esposito, all from Florida.  Lynn and Anthony Rosa of Morris Plains.  Tammy Wilcox of Rockaway.  Bobbette and Charlie Parisi of Pennsylvania.  Troy is also survived by many cousins. Jessica, Ethan, Tye, Jayden, Sadie, Roman, Serena, Anna, Timothy, Adrianna and AJ. Troy is Predeceased by his Grandfathers Alfred Laverty and Elmer Wilcox, also his Uncle Todd Wilcox.

Troy's fierce love and loyalty for his family and friends was never doubted as anyone who knew him would attest.  Now we ask that everyone create a dialog to talk about this horrible disease, that not only affected Troy, but so many families as this horrible epidemic sweeps across our small towns to our biggest cities We all hear the stories, see the deaths, yet we say “not my child”.  It is ALL of our children, our sisters, brothers, husbands and wives.  It is our hope, that in sharing our tragedy and heartbreak with others, it will continue to bring light to the Opioid epidemic that is right in our own backyards.  To all of the functioning addicts, we see you, we hear you, we won't forget you.  We love you.

Visitation will be held on 6-8pm on Thursday September 7, at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. A Funeral service will be held at 8pm. Interment will be private.

Dear Claire,

I am so sorry to hear about Troy. I just came back from vacation today and saw the email. I'm still in shock, I don't know what to say. I've worked with Troy many times, he has always impressed me and I admired him. It was a pleasure to see a young man take on the job we do and with confidence. I liked him a lot and kept an eye on him to see how he was progressing. I always knew he would become a great SA. Very sad loss for us all. Please stay strong and remember the happy times. He will always be in my thoughts. Gods blessing to you and your family.

When I moved back to New Jersey and started work at Picatinny Troy was the second person I met on post. That was four years ago this month and throughout this entire time he was always a genuine friend that I could count on for anything. I am at a loss for words at this tragedy and my thoughts are with Claire and the rest of Troy's family during this dark time. He was a talented, stand-up individual and will be dearly missed.

Claire, Kendra and family,
It breaks my heart to have to type this. I've known you all for many years, watched Kendra & Troy grow up. Troy will be remembered for his smile and sense of humor. I know my son, Steven loved him and misses the "old" Troy. He is very upset by the loss of another good friend and brother to this devastating addiction. All our love and prayers for strength to endure life without him. Hopefully he found his peace. Hugs, Sue Ellen, Minard and family
