Tyler Cox Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 29, 2012.
KILGORE — Memorial services for Tyler Cox, 24, of Lake Cherokee, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012, at The Church at Lake Cherokee, 11968 FM 2011 at FM 1716, at with the Rev. Mike Maxwell officiating. Tyler passed away Friday, July 27, 2012, in Longview.
Tyler Christopher Cox was born May 16, 1988, in Longview, Texas, to Sharon and David Cox. He hurried through life, running instead of walking. He attended Kilgore College Preschool and The Trinity School of Texas, where he graduated high school. His Trinity classmates remain his cherished family.
He liked trying new hobbies with his dad, and although he spent little real time with any particular one, he enjoyed his short ventures in scouting, boating, airplanes and college. Many happy hours were spent with friends at Lake Cherokee.
Early on, with a need for speed, he became interested in drift car racing. With his parents' indulgence, came the first of his many racecar experiences which took him from one coast to another adding many friends along the way. He fell in love with the drifting scene and the many diverse people associated with it. They became his second family and the cars became his passion. He loved being at the shop and track.
Everyone came to know Tyler as a caring, compassionate, comical and most generous companion. He freely gave of his time and resources to help everyone and anyone. He was loved by all who knew him and he loved life, friends and drifting. Tyler continues his giving and caring nature as other lives are blessed through his gift of organ donation.
Tyler is survived by his parents, John David and Sharon Cox of Lake Cherokee; sister, Chelsea Carpenter and husband, Bradley, of Dallas; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Don and Mary Rogers and Bob and Rubynell Kastrop.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, July 29, 2012, at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
If you choose, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
