Ubald Chevrier Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 31 to Feb. 5, 2011.
UBALD CHEVRIER Chevrier: Ubald Andre passed away peacfully at the Regina General Hospital on Friday, January 28, 2011, at the age of 81. He was born in Gravelbourg on May 13, 1929 and spent all his life on the family farm. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years Lorraine (nee Delorme), daughter Claudette (Marcel Masse) and their children Lee-Anne (Jamie) Thomas and their children Kyle, Kimberly and Kaitlyn; Ryan (Crystal Hemeon) and their children Angel, Kayden Brooklyn and Chasten; Roxanne Masse; son Ronald and his children Jessenia, Dayne, Zachary, Ethan, and Jacob. Ubald is predeceased by his parents Napoleon and Marie Reine (nee Guenette); brothers Jean Louis and Fernand; step brother Joseph Anselme Lalonde. Ubald attended school in Gravelbourg. Following his schooling he took over the family farm and was proud to receive the 100 year award in 2008. As fate would have it he met his future wife Lorraine Delorme, at his brother Fernand's wedding. They were married October 13, 1958 and raised two children with lots of love and precious guidance. Ubald enjoyed camping with his family, making many wooden treasures, cooking a fabulous steak, catching you in many of his tricks and jokes, square dancing with many great and life long friends, traveling, and then snowbirding to Yuma for the winter months. Next to his precious family, his heart and pride lay with his farm. The immaculate upkeep of his machinery and land, the well kept yard, and bountiful gardens were testament to this. Ubald served on the Aussant School Board, Thomson Lake Board, RM 104, as well as church trustee, and was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus. Ubald was granted many gifts from God. Of these gifts the most precious one was his grandchildren. The joy on his face when the little ones came to visit, the endless rides on the John Deere tractors, going to find baby kittens for the children to cuddle, finding the biggest carrot or cucumber in the garden for them to pull, camping, games to play, snowmobiles and sliding down the dug out on sleighs are just a few of the things he loved to do with them. Everyone loved it when Pepere made his homemade toffee. This meant fun times helping pull the taffy, cutting the taffy and the best thing of course, eating that oh so yummy taffy. Another gift he was granted was his ability to fix or build anything. With this gift he was able to build his own house, help his children with many renovations, fix and maintain vehicles and taught us all how to be self-sufficient. Prayers were held Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at 7 :30 pm and Funeral Mass was celebrated on February 2, 2011, at 2:00 pm both from Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral Gravelbourg, SK. Con-celebrants were Father Joseph Strohhofer, Father Raymond Carignan and Father Armand Guenette. The eulogy was shared by Ron Chevrier and Claudette Masse. Cross bearer was Dayne Chevrier. Readers were Louise Huneault and Gilbert Chevrier. Intentions were given by Suzanne Bartel and Jeannine Labrecque. Offertory gifts were presented by Lee-Ann Thomas and Roxanne Masse. Communion ministers were Gilbert and Debbie Chevrier. Music by Leona Bourgeois, Henri Lepage and Jenny Song. Interment at Gravelbourg R.C. Cemetery. Memorial tributes in memory of Ubald to Canadian Blood Services, 2571 Broad St., Regina, SK S4P 4H6 and Saskatchewan ProLife Association, Box 27093 Regina, SK S4R 8R8.

Lorraine, Claudette, Ron and families
We were so saddened to hear of Ubald's passing. Ubald was like a second dad to me and I will always remember him for his great sense of humour and the love he showed to those he cared about. He was a great man and will be missed.
