Valerie GALLAGHER Obituary
June 9, 1935 - April 23, 2012
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Valerie Ann Jeffery Gallagher on Monday, April 23. In the company of her daughter Olwyn and surrounded by the excellent care of the staff of the General Hospital Emergency, Val quickly and painlessly came to the end of a life filled with the love of family and friends. Val took great joy from her time spent painting and drawing with her friends at the Prairie Artist Guild and the Wheat City Art Club. Her time spent with the RCMP Ladies Auxiliary and with the Southland Walkers brought much enjoyment to Val's life. Born in Cardiff Wales, Val spent her early years in Bristol, England before emigrating to Halifax, NS were she met and married Larry Gallagher and had five of her six children before transferring to Regina. Val was predeceased by husband Larry Gallagher; parents Joseph and Nora Jeffery and sisters Heather Kurts and Nita Lyall. Val will be missed by her large, loud and loving family; Janet (Ed) Lysyk, Diane Germann, Olwyn (Roland) Soucy, Tony (Dave Gowryluk) Gallagher, James (Roxanne) Gallagher and Carole Lynn (Bob McCrea) Gallagher-McCrea. Val loved her grandchildren; Crystal, Kathy, Brian, Jackie, Shané, Morgan, Justin, Michelle, Anthony, Khalayla and Robert. A new joy for her was her great-grandchild Izaiah. A memorial service will held at the RCMP Chapel on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. A tea will follow at the RCMP Officers mess. In lieu of flowers, donations in Val's memory may be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Society.

Dear Gallaghers:
You mom and dad, and everyone in your family, have welcomed me into your family for 30 years. I am so grateful to all of you, but especially to Larry and Val, who created a family so overflowing with love and generosity...and teasing too, of course. I am so glad that I had a day with your mom...the day that Val and I spent at First Nations University. We wandered around and looked at the art that she appreciated so much and even took part in a Pipe Ceremony. Val was so excited to experience something new. Going to miss my friend Vally'....she knew how to laugh and her smile brightened the room. I also know her large family will experience a deep void in their hearts for some time to come but they'll remember the joy, laughter, family get -togethers and the fun they all had ,even if it was a bit overexubereant at times!! The family has all those memories in their hearts and will never forget their mom/granny!!!
For all this I am grateful.

Our deepest sypathies to all of you. Valerie was a wonderful woman whose smile lit up a room. She was full of life and gave everyone energy when they were with her. She was strong and her strength was passed on to each of her children. We will miss her but will always have her in our hearts.
