Victoria Powers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 26, 2025.
Victoria Mae "Vicky" Powers (Netzer), 80, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, in Angier, North Carolina. Born on October 29, 1944, in Ridgeley, West Virginia, Vicky was the daughter of the late George and Mary Netzer. She grew up in a loving family alongside her siblings and carried that deep sense of connection throughout her life. Vicky was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished time spent with her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Bobby Powers; her children Diana Doll (Keith), Bobby Powers Jr. (Jamie), Johnny Leighty (Vicky), and Joe Leighty (Kathy); twelve grandchildren Amber, Brooke, Taylor, Alexis, Bobby III, Madison, Allison, Wyatt, Tucker, Colleen, Kasey, and Kyle; and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brothers Bill (Kathy) and Jim (Alice), as well as her sister Lila Rae (Bob). She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Richard; two brothers, George and Charles; and three sisters, Mary, Linda, and Nancy. Vicky found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time with family and making memories together. Some of her happiest moments were spent on the pontoon boat at Jordan Lake or camping at Pirateland in Myrtle Beach, places where laughter and love filled the air. Her warmth and kindness made every gathering special. A woman of faith, Vicky was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her faith provided her with strength and guidance throughout her life. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 1, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Cleveland Draft House in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina (1420 E Broad St). Vicky's legacy lives on through the love she shared with those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.

Vicky was iur neighbor for many years and used to brighten our neighborhood get togethers with a cherry smile and sunny disposition. I never saw her without a smile . She was quick to
lighten the mood whenever she walked into a room and her sweet personality was like a warm hug. It was a blessing to know her and to be a recipient of her hospitable nature. We will miss her and send our prayers for the family's great loss.
