Violet McClanahan Obituary

Violet Virginia McClanahan, age 84, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 10, 2017, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
She was born July 15, 1932 in Bronson, a daughter of the late Frank and Marie (Colpetsir) Grindle.
Violet resided most of her life in the Sturgis and Bronson area.
She was married to Kenneth Overholt. This marriage ended in divorce. On Aug. 8, 1983, she married Winston O'Dell in Sturgis. He died in July 1989. On Sept. 28, 1997, she married Paul McClanahan in Las Vegas. He preceded her in death.
Violet retired in 1987 from Sturgis Carton Company in Sturgis, following 18 years of dedicated employment, and she was a homemaker.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, jigsaw puzzles and puzzle books.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth (Mary) Ball of Sturgis; a daughter, Sharon (Donovan) Wilkins; three grandchildren, Travis (Rachel) Schuler of Detroit, Tara Ball of Sturgis and Christin Wilkins; two great-grandchildren, Hailey Harker and Sierra Harker; a brother, Carlin (Beverly) Grindle of Bronson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a brother, Dean Grindle; a sister, Doreen Williams, and an infant sister, Wildolene Grindle.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Saturday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Violet McClanahan will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Pastor Luke Eicher of Grace Christian Fellowship will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
