Vitas Vasiliauskas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 2, 2022.
Vasiliauskas, Vitas Zurgis

June 28, 1955 - September 20, 2022

Born in Omaha. Survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda; son, Jeff; daughter, Christy; son-in-law, Ryan Palmer; and grandchildren, Mirabel and Ivan; as well as many close family and friends; brother, Joe; and sister, Joann. Preceded in death by his brother, Al (born in Germany); and parents, Serafina and George (Zurgis) who immigrated from Lithuania; and father-in-law, Robert W. Spencer. A true South Omaha boy, Vitas spoke fluent Lithuanian and graduated from Omaha South High School, and continued his education throughout his life. He married Linda Spencer in 1977.

Vitas was a kind man. A truly supportive husband, dad, grandpa and neighbor. Always friendly with a smile and glad to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed serving the community through the Omaha Tangier Shriners, Beehive Masonic Lodge #184, Glenwood Springs Masonic Lodge, and as Scoutmaster of Boyscout Troop 69. He worked for American Mail Well for 28 years, construction on Offutt Air Force Base, and at Vas Communications for ESPN and Aspen Food & Wine. He spent the last two decades living in Glenwood Springs, CO, enjoying the Rocky mountains with his wife and son. He passed away at home in his sleep from Lewy Body Dementia.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Omaha Tangier Shrine Center or Omaha Jitterbugs.

Beautiful tribute to a wonderful guy! He was so loved and so handsome :-). I remember him walking Christy down the isle so proudly.

Many hugs and prayers for Linda, Jeff, Christy, Ryan, Mirabel and Ivan.

I didn't know him well in high school, but I do remember him as a very nice boy back then. His family is in my prayers. Annette Chipman

I'm so sorry to hear about Vitas. Loved his smile and joking around in Job's Daughters. He was a wonderful and kind man that we could look up to. Will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.
