Vivian D. Millner

Vivian D. Millner, 90, of Virginia, IL died Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.

She was born February 28, 1926 in Virginia, the daughter of Floyd and Mary Warner Armstrong. She married Dale M. Millner on January 15, 1950 and he preceded her in death on June 5, 1989.

She is survived by three daughters, Janet Evers (husband, Carl) of Virginia, Marcia Williams (husband, Ken) of Chatham, and Arlene Smith (husband, Randy) of Virginia; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Evers (wife, Sarah) of Heyworth, Christina Evers of Urbana, Jeffrey Evers (wife, Laura) of Springfield, Matthew Williams (wife, Kristin) of Sherman, Jacob Williams (wife, Jessi) of Chatham, Casey Smith (wife, Charlene) of Sumter, SC, and Bonnie Smith of Bloomington; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Millner of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Kenneth "Gene" Armstrong (surviving wife, Shirley of Virginia) and G. Irene Stephen.

Vivian was a 1943 graduate of Virginia High School and attended Hardin-Brown Business College in Jacksonville. She was employed several years in the Cass County Treasurer's Office before becoming a full-time farm wife and mother. She was a member of the Virginia Church of Christ where she formerly served as a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Mt. Pleasant Home Extension Unit for over 50 years. She enjoyed sewing and creating crafts which she loved to share with her grandchildren. She valued time spent with her entire family.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, April 29, 2016, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am Friday until the time of services. Memorial gifts are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Virginia Church of Christ.
