Wayne Randall Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 11, 2024.
Wayne John Randall 74, passed away on July 10, 2024, in Texas surrounded by family following a battle with cancer.

Wayne was born on March 29, 1950, in Brockton, MA.

Wayne earned a Bachelors' Degree from Bentley College in Boston and quickly got a job with a major retail chain after graduating.

Upon vacationing in Colorado in the mid 70's, he and his then wife Nancy saw an advertisement in the newspaper for a gift shop for sale in Breckenridge, Colorado.

Realizing the east coast was not for him, they took a chance and moved to Breckenridge with their two young daughters, Molly and Jessica, and bought the Village Gift Shop. A few years later they welcomed their 3rd daughter, Amy. Over the years he owned Ski Country Painting, Village Gift Shop, Furry Friends and Fudge, and the Frisco T-Shirt Gallery.

Wayne was always active within the Breckenridge community. He was a lifetime member of the Red White & Blue Fire Department. He retired as Deputy Fire Chief, served on the board for 16 years and was instrumental in getting the training center built. He also volunteered his time to the annual No Man's Land Festival

July 4th was his favorite holiday and Wayne always loved to barbecue for family, friends and the community every year. He was also an active member in the Viper Club (he loved fast cars and anything Mopar!) and would invite other members to Breckenridge for the holiday parade. As part of the celebration, he would hold a free car show and donate any proceeds directly to the local Fire Department.

Whether he was barbequing, racing on a track, rolling dice in Las Vegas or just being a "Girl-Dad", Wayne loved life, his family and his friends.

Wayne is survived by his father John Randall, three daughters: Molly, Jessica and Amy. He was blessed with six grandchildren, and in staying proper girl-dad fashion his granddaughters (Emily, Braylee, Addie and Gracie) outnumber his grandsons (Logan & Griffin)!

A celebration of life memoriam is being planned by the family. It will be held in Breckenridge. The date is yet to be determined.

As I look back over the five decades of my life, I have so many special memories of my Uncle Wayne. He taught me to drive fast, love hard, and to hold myself accountable. He trusted me to take care of my cousins and to work in his stores when I was just a teenager. He took me to fireman's balls, drove me to the airport, gambled with me in Vegas, and scared away suiters that weren't worth my time. He taught me to paint, and well! He was generous of time and spirit. I loved being in his presence. He made me laugh, was a confidant, and a gentle and loving father figure. There are no words to describe just how much I love him and how incredibly much I miss him.

My sisters and I have felt so much love and support from all of you. The outreaches have helped with our healing. We are so honored to have all of you in our and our dads lives! To honor him we cannot think of a better place then to gather with friends and loved ones in our hometown, Breckenridge to have his celebration of life. We would love to see anyone who can make it on October 12th from 3-6 at Fatty's Pizza! Please spread the word. With love and gratitude ,The Randall Girls!

My brother in-law Wayne was always smiling and always fun to be with . He taught me how to drive and taught me how to drive a a stick shift too !! Not easy for him or me but he never lost his patience .
For awhile my sister nancy and wayne lived with us in NJ and as a high schooler I was responsible for laundry -somehow every time I did Wayne´s laundry some of his socks would be lost in the wash drain --so one Christmas there was a beautifully wrapped present under the tree for me from wayne . I was so excited to open it and to my surprise and laughter this beautifully wrapped Christmas gift included all the single socks whose pairs were down the drain !!! Always fun always kind to me !
He will be missed by everyone that had the good fortune to know him and his girls and the grandkids and nieces and nephews .

Uncle Wayne was so generous and fun and kind. I loved visiting in Breckenridge- his family´s beautiful home and he made us feel completely at home. The store was like a play place for us, where they let us pick out fun things and then he would ply me with quarters so we could play endlessly in the video game place. Many magical times.... He was a wonderful uncle and will be very missed! Love to all his daughters, our wonderful cousins....

Wayne was sitting behind his desk in his office, covered in paint with his Sherwin Williams paint white shirt that looked like a paint pallet and his Sherwin Williams hat on. He looked so serious and reminded me of The Godfather but covered in paint. My brother and I knocked on the glass of the door of his office and didn't know what to expect, asking him to rent us a space in his building. He took a look at us, and said, " If I do this, you better not disappoint me.

Well that was 22 years ago and Wayne became like a father to me, a role model, a mentor, and a great friend. He was a man of integrity and values and genuinely cared for people.

He was there for me in one of the hardest times of my life and stood next to me picked me up and held me up until I was able to get up on my own. Every time I would call him and ask for his advice he would say " You know what to do, I believe in you" his belief in me gave me my belief in myself. Wayne touched many lives and had a heart of GOLD. He will be missed and forever loved and remembered.

Thank you Wayne for always being you and showing us how to truly live for ourselves.

P.S. Wayne didn't like pictures much, but I was able to snap these on our last visit together.

Wayne was one of the first friends we had when we moved to Breck in 1978. He got me involved as a volunteer in the Red White and Blue and was there for us when I lost my daughter. Yes the 4th of July was a great time. Photos were from 1979. He was a good man.
