I have so many happy memories of Wayne and I in the theater Dept at Pepperdine. He directed me in may plays. What fun we had! So very sad I won't see him again.

A friend and mentor while I was working as head dresser at Music Circus. Such a talent who will be missed my friends and the theatre.

Wayne was a special gift for all who knew him. His love for family and friends, sending cards during his touring, brightened family and friends. He made a trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento when my Dad, Frank Ostoja, passed away for the services - who else would do that but Wayne? He will be remembered with love always! His cousin, Josette Ostoja-Halsted, Aunt Eva Ostoja, Steven Ostoja and Susan Mahan

So sad to hear of Wayne's passing. He was such a joy to work with in Sacramento and always made me look good in all my costumes. We kept in touch by mail for many years after meeting and he would always let me know when he was in Seattle. He will be missed.

All of you who have written thus far have captured Wayne's wonderful spirit. "To know him was to love him." I can't believe he is gone from this Earth, but we have a new star in the sky shining down upon us, brighter than the lights of Broadway.

What a loss! My condolences to both family and friends. It's hard to realize that the young boy I met as a freshman in high school is now gone. I came to know Wayne as a gentle soul who cared for everyone and had an inner drive that always led to success - whether on bass drum or in the theatre. My world is a better place for having known him and I wish peace for both him and his family.

Oh the laughs we shared over the years at Music Circus in Sacramento. I could always rely on receiving a Christmas card from Wayne, no matter where he was touring. It just broke my heart to hear of his passing. Rest in peace, dear talented friend.

I worked with Wayne many times in Sacramento and Wichita and was always delighted to learn he was going to be on a show I was doing. We kept in touch for many years, but had lost contact more recently. His laughter, support and expertise were one of a kind. I am so sad to know he has passed, but so grateful to have had him in my life, and in my corner.

Wayne was my first professional dresser. I couldn't believe that I was given a dresser when all I had to do was put on an overcoat in Act II of CHESS but there he was at the top of the aisle ready to hold my briefcase and put on my coat. We kept in contact throughout the years and would exchange Christmas cards through the mail. We lost touch these past couple of years. So saddened to hear of his passing. The heavens are a much happier place with Wayne's arrival. R.I.P. dear sweet Wayne.

Wayne was bigger than life to me!! He was always kind, laughing, quick witted, yet some how down to earth. He lived a full and rich life - he was a dear family member, brother, son, cousin, - Heaven is going to light up now - find joy that you all have a wonderful guardian angel with you at all times. I'm so sorry for your loss - love always Mimi

I worked with Wayne many times in San Francisco theatres and toured with him on "Joseph & the...Coat" Loved that guy. Great sense of humor, a little naughty (loved that!), and very knowledgeable of the wardrobe craft. Such a loss for us all. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest, Wayne.

Dear Wayne, I hope you know and have always known what you meant to the Spellman Family. So much laughter, joy and love. From the time you were a little boy you have been a blessing to us. Heaven must be a little brighter now. Love you forever, Aunt Linda

My heartfelt condolences to the Spellman family. I was blessed with the opportunity to hang out with Wayne a few occasions with my partner Jim. Those handfull of times, albeit insufficient, were enough to leave an indelible, unforgettable happy memory for me. I would periodically ask Jim how Wayne was, where he was, when would he be coming to town again. Truly you could not help but be drawn to him through his magnetic personality, wit,
charm, kindness and generosity. Waynes articulate anecdotes, magical memories and clever quips left one spellbound.
He always knew the right thing to say at the right time. Without doubt, Wayne had an incredible impact on every
soul he encountered. His "glitter will never rub right off." He will be sorely missed !

Any room Wayne entered became brighter with his smile. I loved hearing all his stories about people and places he visited. My son, Jim, introduced us while at Pepperdine and Wayne never missed sending me Christmas greetings. Two years ago, he was able to visit me in North Carolina when he was working with a show in Durham. What a great night; a night filled with laughter, fun and remembrances. Wayne will be missed.

Wayne, you will always be larger than life to me. It was my pleasure and horor to have call you family. I was always amazed at how quickly you would have me at ease each time I saw you, as if it was yesterday we had just talked. I love you. I will forever hold you close to my heart.

My dear, dear friend, Wayne...I will miss you always. I remember the first day we met at Pepperdine, so many years ago for tryouts for "Fiddler". Your friendly way...your AMAZING sense of humor, and your big heart, drew me right in. We were friends from that day forward. I remember going out to Sacramento to see you in "The King and I" and Spending time with you, and your loving and welcoming family. I remember the many times you visited me and my family here in Boston through the years. I remember us in NYC, skating at Rockefeller Center. I can still see us in our crappy cabin when we "Crossed" on "The QUEEN ELIZABETH 2". Wayne, you have been such an important part of my life for so many years...I love you, and will miss you always. Gregg and I wish you and your family peace. Thank you for being my friend Wayne. I love you. I miss you....

One of my favorite and most fond memories of Wayne is dancing with him at a CSUS theatre dept awards ceremony years, years ago. What a ham! Oh, what a wonderful, free spirit he was! I loved receiving his postcards and updates for years after our college graduation. He had a true talent for making people feel special and worth his time. I'm so sad knowing we will never run into each other again. No more postcards out of the blue. God be with you, Wayne. Thank you for touching my heart. You will be deeply missed, my old friend.

I loved Wayne. We met on the national tour of Sunset Boulevard and he was my "show husband". I remember running to the wardrobe room between scenes just to share a good laugh with Wayne. He brought so many smiles and good memories. We also shared the stage in a benefit, singing the Rita/Chita duet from Forbidden Broadway. Yes, he looked fabulous in a bright orange dress and heels.
My love and prayers go to his family.
Love, Sarah Dacey-Charles

Wayne was a dear person. From all the shows we worked on at CSUS and Sacramento Opera he was always just a delight to be around and so very funny! We were all so happy for him when he went to work for Robert Goulet and began his travels and career. I loved all of the cards and postcards from his many ports of call over the years. You could always rely on Wayne if you needed something done. He will be missed.

Wayne, there is a gigantic void where your smile, upbeat attitude, professionalism, and sharp sense of humor were. It's impossible to say in words how completely devastated the theater world is by the loss of someone as impeccable as you. Much love to you my friend, and rest in peace Wayne. My deepest condolences to family and friends.

There is such a palpable absence of his presence here on the Book of Mormon Tour. We adored him and are missing him every day. He was a class act that is hard to follow! Love and healing thoughts to the Spellman Family.

I toured with Wayne on Spamalot and worked again for him on The book Of Mormon. IWe have lost an amazing spirit who never really knew his own "specialness". I will forever hear him calling me "mama", and our numerous jokes and schtick we had together. May he be at Peace and my thoughts and prayers to his family and all of us who loved him.
