Wayne Royden Thompson UPPER Wayne Royden Thompson (84) of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on February 9, 2025, at HCA Houston Clear Lake Hospital. He was born in Waco, Texas, on March 10, 1940, where he spent most of his childhood.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Junetta, on April 24, 2023. He was also preceded in death by his parents, William Wayne Thompson and Adeline Mary Thompson, and grandson, Ethan Michael Thompson.

He is survived by his children Teri Thompson, Michael Thompson and wife Paula, Dennis Thompson and wife Andrea; grandchildren Lauren Thompson Domangue and Eston Thompson; and great grandchildren Stevie Li Domangue and Scully Ru Domangue. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Smith and husband Phil; brother-in-law Captain WO King, Jr. USN (Ret) and wife Mary King; sister-in-law Debbie Stohler and husband, Bill; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Wayne married Junetta on September 13, 1958, in Waco, Texas. They settled in Galveston, Texas, where Wayne served in the United States Coast Guard, beginning a 30-year career culminating as CWO4 Boatswain Mate. His career took them to Pascagoula, Mississippi; Mobile, Alabama; Port Isabel, Texas; Honolulu and Kauai, Hawaii; Governors Island, New York; Groton, Connecticut; Morgan City, Louisiana; and Houston, Texas.

He was Paw Wayne to Lauren and the great grandbabies and Papa Wayne to Ethan and Eston. He was always up for an adventure and always showed up with treats in hand. He was well loved by the neighborhood children, known in the area for his Halloween shenanigans.

Wayne and Junetta loved to travel and did so frequently after his retirement. Even after retirement from the Coast Guard, he continued to serve in a volunteer capacity at various military functions in the area.

He always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. His loss will be felt deeply by friends and family alike.

We wish for you fair winds and following seas on your final journey.
