We were surprised when we received the call saying Wendell had passed away. He had recently visited us this year and we were all so glad to see him. (Our 1st Cousin) We began to reminisce about our childhood and how we agreed to keep in touch, His presence will be missed and we thank GOD for the time we had with him. Wendell lived a full life and treated each day as an adventure. He dedicated his life to the Military, and to his Family. (Thank You For Protecting Our Freedom) He expressed Compassion, Empathy, and cared for for his fellow man. Wendell, My heart is broken but my life is complete because of you. Every conversation we shared left me uplifted and reassured that God's love was truly in your heart. I considered you my son as much as my natural ones. You were a man of great class and grace but so humble in your relationships. It's been said that " People Don't Care How Much You Know Until They Know How Much You Care". Thank you for being the Caring, Loving, and Gentle person you were. Your sons and my grandsons Caleb, Joshua, and Jeremiah are so blessed that you were a part of their life. Gwendolyn

To be truthful Wendell didn't deserve to leave this earth in that manner. God's plan is his own. My cousin have always shrared his opinion about all aspects of my life decisions. When he joined the service, every state or country he visited he always sent me many things from wherever he was. Our childhood was an adventure. This painting I'm posting of us was sitting on my porch when I arrived home from my high school graduation. Who new. This was a picture I took for my modeling graduation and it arrived on my high school graduation day. He called me to say did you get your painting? I said yes I did, but why did you mess it up by putting your face on it. He replied I made the painting better with my face. Lol. He also said that this is a picture of our proud moments. I will always cherish the memories we have shared 4ever. You're truly missed and will never be forgotten. Much love 4Life Wendell L. Rhodes

I want to express my deepest condolences to Wendell’s family as his sister in law, I knew Wendell to be a loving thoughtful and caring person he could always be counted on, as the circumstances warranted, to give his undivided attention to solving any problems. I will miss his counsel and big brotherly protection. The Lord now has in Wendell a stalwart soldier at His disposal.

I personally did not know Mr. Wendall, but it left me in shock especially because I saw him minutes before walking down the street with his dog, we always saw him and he friendly raised his hand to greet us .. my child remembered him! He said is the man who has let us touch his puppy! I am very sorry for your loss and I hope that God gives strength to your family, our prayers for Him!

My husband and I live in the adjoining neighborhood, Archer Farm, and we would stop and chat with Mr. Rhodes when we would walk our dogs. We would always comment how lovely his yard is and the time he spent in it, and my husband is also retired military, so they would often talk about their time in the service. We express our deepest condolences to his wife and family. Our entire neighborhood is praying for this family. Rest easy Mr. Rhodes.

I send my most sincere condolences to the family of Wendell Rhodes.
I knew Wendell on a personal basis. Many days we would sit together at the track @North Rowan or in the hallways and share great conversations. He was a great warrior, responsible husband and an outstanding father. He was the type of man that you build a community around. He will be missed.

Met Wendell at the Y M CA a few years ago. He was very helpful and very nice. He talked about wanting to do something for the youth to keep them occupied. He mention he was a veteran and I also have a son that is a veteran so we also scaled across that a little. He was a very nice Guy. And Salisbury has lost great person. I have been and will continue to pray for his wife and family.

I was shock and in disbelief, when I received the news of Wendell Rhodes passing. I worked on the skill unit with Wendell what use to be Gensise Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Salisbury, but now it is Citidale. Wendell was very sociable, helpful,a problem solver, friendly and caring to staff and residents. Wendell smile and encouraging words will surely be miss by staff and residents. Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope.

Seeing Wendell numerous times while out walking the neighborhood was always a pleasant surprise. He always had a smile on his face and talking with him always made my day. It’s so hard to believe he’s gone but I hope to see him again someday. A good man gone way too soon. RIP Wendell, we miss you.

Memories of Wendell hearken me to the certainty of his word; he did not give it freely and he fulfilled it fervently. His presence provided certainty to all things he was a part of.

I have known a great Man, Husband, Father, and Soldier.

I served as his 1st Sgt while we were in Korea. Then Cpt Rhodes was an awesome commander, he and I worked as a team during some difficult times. Being a female and first to be in charge of a support unit, that supported the cab. Cpt Rhodes always treated me with respect. I will always be proud and blessed to have known him.
