Wesley Miller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 17, 2013.
Wesley Wayne Miller Wesley Wayne Miller, 76 of Austin completed his earthly journey on Thursday, September 12, 2013 in Austin, Texas. He was born on December 10, 1936 to George and Sammie Lee Miller in Cameron, Texas. After graduation from Yoe High School in Cameron, Texas he attended UT of Austin and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army for two years and was stationed most of that time in Augsburg, Germany. In his early years, Wayne enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was very knowledgeable and had a great respect for firearms. Wayne was a salesman for McLean Wholesale for a number of years. He later retired from his dream job at McBride's Gun Shop which he considered his home away from home. He had great love and respect for Jack and Mildred McBride and all of their children who he considered family. He was a WW II buff and could name battles, commanding officers, the number of tanks, airplanes, etc. that were involved. He was especially fond of General George Patton and he could watch war movies over and over. Wayne was a man of the old school, honest to the bone; he took good care of his family and took his responsibilities very seriously. He was a wonderful son, husband, step-father and a loving grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There are no words to express how very much we will miss him. He was THE BEST! He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Sammie Miller and step-son, Brent Preece. Surviving Wayne and left to cherish his memory are his wife, Peggy of Austin; cousin, Mike Miller and wife Patsy, and their family of Cameron; step-daughter, Holly Clouse (Greg); step-son, Tod Preece; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and more friends that he realized he had; and of course his "sweet, funny baby girl", Gracie. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Joshua Preece, Brandon Camp, Donivan Preece and Harrison Preece and his "adopted grandson" Jesse Lulay. Honorary pallbearers include: Mike Miller, Tod Preece, Buz Palmer, Paul Kowaleski, and all of the McBride family and employees. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Austin Humane Society, American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank all of the compassionate and dedicated people we came in contact with from Hospice Austin and Home Care Dimensions; all of you were a great comfort at a difficult time. May God bless you all. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2013 in the chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery. Please visit Wayne's memorial page at www.cookwaldencapitalparks.com

Grandpa, I love you and miss you so much. You were such a huge influence in my life! Without you there is no telling where I'd be now. You taught me so many lessons in life, morals that I now teach my own children. I will never forget all that you have done for me. I just hope that you know how thankful I truely am and how much my family (Carly and the girls) and I love you. You will never be forgotten and will always have a special place in my heart. May you rest in peace. Oh, and give Uncle Brent a big hug for me too ;-)
