William Brooksby Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 4, 2004.
William Eric Brooksby, 30, died April 30, 2004 in his home after a three year battle with colon cancer. Many loved ones surrounded him.

He was born April 1, 1974 in Salt Lake City, Utah to R. Victor and RuLea Heaton Brooksby. He married Allison McCollom for time and all eternity on March 22, 1997 in the Mount Timpanogos Temple.

Willie lived a happy childhood in West Jordan until the age of Eleven.

His family relocated to American Fork where he spent his teenage years. He graduated from American Fork High School in 1992. He earned his Eagle Scout award in 1991 and served an honorable mission in Guatemala and in Jackson Mississippi. He helped to bring many people the happiness that he had found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Life began in St.George when he married his companion, Allison. They began their family by bringing three beautiful children into their union.

Willie studied business at Dixie State College while developing plans for his own business. Willie B's Mobile Wash and Detailing was established in 1997. Through serving others, his clients developed into life long friends.

He enjoyed all outdoor activities, racquetball, and searching for bargains in the Pioneer Shopper. He loved playing softball for the Dixie Diamondbacks and always looked forward to golf with his brothers. He was always on a constant quest for self-improvement and always found the good in others.

Willie was a valiant servant in numerous church callings. He loved working with the Boy Scout program and with the youth of the church.

His wife, Allison and three children survive him: Kaela Yvonne (4), Kyler Eric (3), and Kason Randall (1). He is also survived by his parents Bryan and RuLea Taggart, siblings: Vikilee (Jerry) Sabiatis, Ryan (Andrea), Roy (Roneen), Kim (Erin), Spencer, Summer (Brett) Kirkland, April (Michael) Nielsen, 10 nieces and 7 nephews, grandparents: Alta Petty, LeRoy and Esther Heaton and many many aunts, uncles and cousins. His Father R. Victor Brooksby, brother Randall Smith Brooksby, mother-in-law Deborah Yvonne Gish and grandfather Oscar Brooksby, preceded him in death.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 5th from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Heideman Mortuary, 170 south mall drive, St. George. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m at the Santa Clara Stake Center, 1706 North Desert Dawn Drive, friends may call 1 hour prior to the services. I am so sorry to hear about Willie. Although I didn't know him I know Ryan. I actually met him one time just recently at the St. George Softball tournament. I am so glad he got to enjoy sitting and watching his brother play ball one last time. My heart goes out to you Ryan and family.

So sorry to hear about Willie. Seems like just yesterday he was a happy young boy running up and down the street with all the other kids. May you be comforted in this time of sadness.
