86 of McCandless Township, died on April 29, 2009. Survived by his beloved wife, Nelda of 61 years, a son, Randy (Connie) DeArmit of Zelienople, PA, a daughter, Janice (Bill) Rees of Cranberry Twp., PA; grandchildren, Jodie Perry, Justin DeArmit, Jaclyn DeArmit, Ashley Rees and Aleisha Rees and great-granddaughter, Mia Perry, a sister, Margaret DeArmit and nieces and nephews. Mr. DeArmit was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in WWII. He was a member of Northmont United Presbyterian Church where he served in many leadership capacities including elder and deacon. He was a member of North Hills Masonic Lodge #716. Mr. DeArmit worked for the Joseph Horne Company for 47 years until his retirement. After he retired he worked at the Butler Auto Auction. Mr. DeArmit enjoyed the company of friends and family. As hobbies he enjoyed gardening, watching and attending sporting events. He was very active in several organizations including the Northern Allegheny Senior Softball League (NASSL) where he was a player until the age of 75. After he "retired" from playing he went on to manage the team until his death. He was the current tour director for the Bauerstown AARP. We will mourn his passing but celebrate his life. Friends and family will be received on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 at the SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 388 Center Ave., West View. Service in Northmont U. P. Church, 8169 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 on Monday at 11:00 a.m. (Please Meet at Church). In lieu of flowers, family suggests donation to American Heart/Stroke Association, 777 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15235. Please pay tribute at www.schellhaasfh.com
