William Halbert

CRAWFORD - William Peter Halbert, 61, died Feb. 20, 2009, at his residence. Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove MB Church in Crawford with the Rev. Riley Forrest officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is today from 1-6 p.m. at Century Hairston Funeral Home in Columbus. Mr. Halbert was born March 12, 1947, to the late Douglas and Mary Francis Rice Halbert. He worked as a custodian at Moore High School and he was a member of Pleasant Grove MB Church. He is survived by his sons, Victor Halbert, and Peter Hart, both of Starkville; daughters, Cheryl Elliott of Starkville, Cherries Bibbs of Houma, La., and Beyanka Brooks of Crawford; sisters, Mary Halbert Rowell of Dorchester, Mass., and Annie Mildred Halbert Bell of Crawford; and brother, Myron Wendell Halbert of Crawford. Pallbearers will be Richard and Ricardo Guy, Tommy Thomas, Tommie Halbert, Nathiel Harris and Oliver Sudduth.
