William Hawk Obituary

Mr. William Nelson Hawk Sr., 66, of West Main Street, Emmitsburg, Md., died Friday December 2, 2005 at The Gettysburg Hospital, Gettysburg, Pa.

Born December 25, 1938 in Taneytown, Md., he was a son of the late Earl and Ruth Bollinger Hawk. He was the husband of Catherine E. Hawk, his wife of 17 years.

Mr. Hawk had worked as a truck driver and retired from Prime Manufacturing in Union Bridge, Md.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Gettysburg Lodge 1526 and the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association. He was a former member of both the Taneytown Volunteer Fire Company and the Vigilant Hose Volunteer Fire Company in Emmitsburg.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons William N. Hawk Jr. of Taneytown, David Hawk of Littlestown, Pa. And Terry Hawk of Gettysburg; daughter Debbie; stepchildren William Rippeon Jr. of W.Va., Roger Rippeon Sr. of Walkersville, Md., Kimberly Brothers of Hagerstown, Md., and Richard Rippeon of California; eight grandchildren; sister Jane Sprague of Thurmont, Md. and brothers Fred Hawk of Taneytown and Wayne Hawk of Florida.

He was preceded in death by stepdaughter Cathy Lamb and by brother Earl Hawk Jr.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday December 8 from the Skiles Funeral Home, 210 West Main Street, Emmitsburg, with prayers led by his pastor, The Rev. Vincent O'Malley, C.M. Inurnment will be in Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery, Emmitsburg. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 a.m., until the time of the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to defray funeral expenses may be made in Mr. Hawk's name to the Skiles Funeral Home, P.O. Box 427, Emmitsburg, MD 21727-0427.
