WILLIAM J. NEARY Jr.

NEARY WILLIAM JOSEPH NEARY, JR. William Joseph Neary, Jr. died peacefully at home on June 18, 2015, after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Born April 3, 1938 in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late William J. and Helen (Ternove) Neary, Sr. Upon graduating from the University of Scranton in 1960, Bill received a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Cincinnati. He held a variety of positions with the US Department of Health and Human Services, his last position being Director of Refugee Resettlement for Region Three, based in Philadelphia, when he retired in 1984. Bill then began a second career in real estate, becoming very active with his professional organizations, including being elected President of the Talbot County (Maryland) Board of Realtors, President of the Maryland Association of Realtors, and Regional Vice President for the National Association of Realtors. He was appointed Real Estate Commissioner for Maryland in 2013. Bill was never happier than when spending time with family and friends; traveling, golfing, watching college basketball, and enjoying life in his adopted home of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Bill is survived by his wife of 31 years, Anne Ryan Neary; daughter Kathleen Blumberg, her husband Steven, grandsons Steven, Daniel and Nathan Blumberg; daughter Colleen Neary; son Bryan Neary, grandson Bryan and granddaughter Moira. He is also survived by his brother Edward Neary and his wife Gina, his aunt, Helen Ternove, his sister-in-law Nancy Wooten, several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends Friday, June 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 200 S. Harrison Street, Easton MD. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the William Hill Manor Auditorium, 501 Dutchman's Lane, Easton MD. Burial will be in Yadkinville, North Carolina. The family requests memorials be made to Chesapeake College Foundation, PO Box 8, Wye Mills MD 21679, "In Memory of Bill" for the new Health Professions and Athletic Center (HPAC) being opened later this year.
