William Roberts Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 11, 2025.
William "Sonny" Roberts, 67, passed away on March 5, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida.

Born on November 10, 1957, Sonny was a man of deep faith, kindness, and a sharp sense of humor. His life was defined by his love for God, his family, and his passion for helping others. No matter the season of life he found himself in, his faith remained his anchor, guiding him through both challenges and joys. He cherished reading scripture and sought to share God's love with those around him.

Sonny had a natural gift for working with his hands and spent his career as a master mechanic. But for him, it was never just about fixing cars-it was about building up the people around him. He took great pride in mentoring others, particularly through his work at a men's recovery home in Jacksonville. This role was especially close to his heart, as he found immense fulfillment in helping others rebuild their lives with faith and purpose.

Beyond his work, Sonny had many passions that brought him joy. He loved golfing-especially when playing alongside his brother-in-law, Charles Coleman-and he had an undeniable enthusiasm for shopping for tennis shoes, always favoring a crisp all-white pair. He also enjoyed spending time at the beach and treasured every moment he could spend with family. His love for reading and movies was matched only by the pride he took in his impeccable penmanship. Those who knew him best will remember not only his quick wit and sarcasm but also the depth of care he showed to those around him.

Sonny is survived by his daughters, Danielle Craig (husband Cyler Craig) and Brandi Salinas; his beloved grandchildren Harper, Alivia, Violet, Diego, and Isabella; his sisters Linda Coleman (husband Charles Coleman) and Cathy Roberts; and his brother Larry Roberts. He also leaves behind nieces he was especially close to, along with many other family members and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sarah Roberts, as well as his brother William "Buddy" Roberts.

Sonny lived with a sense of purpose-lifting up those around him with encouragement, wisdom, and faith. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
