Chris Tarman-Major
November 15, 2011
When my dad, Bill Tarman, enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II, he discovered his name was actually "Charles William", not the William Charles he had been for 18 years. He was never "Charles". He was always "Bill" or "William" to family and friends. To paraphrase Ralph Kramden, he was "The Greatest".

Grandpa will be remembered as a gentleman to all who loved and encountered him. He was deeply kind, deeply loving, and a very charismatic man.
I miss him very much. He was a model person- someone who left a wonderful and vivid impression on all he met- so in love with the world that it was hard for him to leave it. I'm so glad that he embraced and spread so much beauty while he was here.
