To My Dearest Mother,
Your passing is such a great shock to all of us. Knowing you for all my life, we know that you are a person who manages yourself well, who is always healthy and optimistic, and that is why it is so shocking for you to have left us so soon. Even though you are now at a better place, but your smile, your voice, your figure; everything will forever and ever be printed into our memories. Living with you for over 50 years, I will never forget the things that we had been through, and the teachings that you had given us. Although sometimes repetitious, we know that you are caring for us with a good heart. You are a real-life “dictionary”, continuously enriches our mind with many traditional Hakkanese wisdom, which benefits us immensely in life.
Mom, thank you so much for bringing me to this world, and taking care of us with no regrets. I wish I can become your daughter and you my mother once again in the next life. Please do not worry about us, even though your daughter has to deal with many illnesses, but we will handle ourselves to the best of our abilities, and live happily as a family. I wish that you will live on happily in heaven, without sadness and grief. I believe that we will certainly meet each other once again in the distant future.

When we were born, we are destined to go through the cycle of life, the inevitable life and death. As we grow older, the more we will experience the unavoidable separation from our loved ones. Grandmother (Poh Poh), I hope you will always remember me and my smile. I will also forever remember your beautiful smile, all your teachings, and all the special time that we had spent together. They will always be embedded in my mind, in my heart. I know that you are going to a heavenly place to continue your journey, I hope you will forever have happiness and peace. I will be strong, so please support me, and give me strength to do so. I believe that in the future, we will see each other once again. Please rest in peace.
Your Grandson,

To my Dearest Mother,
I am truly thankful for all that you have done for everyone of us in the family. Thank you for your love and care ever since from the very beginning. I am regretful that for the last years, my tone of voice had been loud and a bit rude when I was trying to reason with you during conversations, and I did realize how rude it could be, so please forgive me on the mistakes that I made. Even though you have left us for a better place, you will always be the Greatest Mom and the most respectable person that I have ever known. Here, I want to say to you, Mom I love you, and I will miss you. Please look after us in heaven.

At this moment I don't know what words would be the best to express the deepest memories of Auntie Yuk Lin Chan, mother of my best sister-in-law Alice. Auntie was such a pleasant and energetic lady. She always had a smile on her face. I remembered every time when I talked to her, she always gave me a positive message. She was such a great mom, wonderful wife, kindness grandmother and a dearest friend. We miss you forever Auntie.
With lot of love

In my memory Mrs. Chan was always a very polite nice lady who was bearing her smiles on her face all the time. Even though we did not have too many chances to meet very often. It was only when Simon and Alice held BBQ parties or come across her and the whole Chan's family members at North Garden. She always greeted me with a big smile and putting in a big concern to check how I was doing. All these will sealed onto my mind.
She fulfilled her life as a responsible lovable and wonderful wife and mother, I believe you all agree with this.
Now she had gone to a better place, peaceful and joyful, and she will always staying in our hearts !
Best Regards,
Stella

Dearest Mother,
I can never forget your care and love for me throughout my life.
I still remember in my childhood, my kidney was afflicted. You brought me to the doctors for countless treatments with patience and sweat; after quite a while I finally recovered in your care. Then there was one time when I was in my youth, I sprained my ankle in a basketball game. You carried the heavy me on your tender back. I made you fall and hurt your knees as I was way too heavy.. There are tons of these moments I spent with you in childhood. You have already given me the most precious, as early as when I was born, when I was young and it never ceases. You gave unconditionally. You gave willingly because you love me. Sometimes I didn't realize. Sometimes I just even made you upset. But I always love you.
My Mother, I adore you so much. Your every words of guidance and kindness, your smile and love, are well preserved in my heart.
My Mother, may you rest in peace. Please don't worry about me. You forever live in my mind.
Your son

To my dearest Grandma: We will remember you.
From your cheerful personality, to your motherly sense of duty.
You devoted your life to mold us all -
Your children, your children's children -
To achieve something so simple, yet so difficult;
To become a good person,
So that we shall be acknowledged, respected, and loved.
People wonder what is the meaning of life.
Your meaning of life was us;
That we are what defined your hopes and dreams.
We thank you for we now understand:
We will stay strong, we will do our best,
So where ever you go, be proud always.
Fairwinds.

To my lovely, super mom,
I love you!!!!
Mom, it is me, Ah Hing (Alice). Remember I brought you to Vancouver here since 1991? When I married Simon in 1984 and moved to Vancouver, I felt so bad because I missed you and the family so much.... But when I noticed that you and dad would also like to immigrate to Vancouver, I felt so surprised since I know you are such an old traditional person. You liked to live in the original village, Sam Tung Uk Village; you liked to socialize with relatives in the village; you liked blessings from the village temple. Your decision made me so confused. Mom, your kindness is speechless to me, your love for the kids is immeasurable. You immigrated to Vancouver mainly for the kids, right? We all know you like beautiful flowers. Vancouver definitely is your dream place to live in, with different kinds of flowers everywhere in the summer, many birds singing, butterflies dancing.... It is so peaceful knowing you enjoyed very much. Mom, we all miss you. You will be in our hearts forever. You are our LUCKY LIN forever.......

To my wonderful grandma,
You will surely be missed. You have taught me many things in life from how to read and write to general lessons in how to respect and most importantly how to love and care. I am sure you have gone to a better place, a place that is more beautiful, elegant and peaceful. Although I cannot physically see you, you will forever remain in my heart and memories. I will never forget your laugh, your strong voice, and your wonderful spirit that put a smile on my face even when I am having the worst of days.
On a day expecting rain or snow, we experienced a glimpse of sunshine: which to me is a definite sign of God's blessing for you and our entire family. I hope you rest in peace and know I am proud to be your grandson. I will stay strong and continue to live on with your blessing.
Your loving grandson,
Johnny (King-Lun)

To My Dearest Grandma (Poh-Poh),
Please rest in peace. Do not worry about us, as we are all grown-up now and we all come out as great people just like you. Follow the light of blessing to the beautiful heaven where you will live a peaceful and happy life. In my heart, you are always very kind-hearted, courageous, intelligent and beautiful. You had lived a glorious life and you shined like a magnificent star. You are one of the most wonderful and beautiful people in the world that we have ever known. You will always be my treasure, and your every word will always be great lessons for me and the family. You will always be in my heart and I will never forget you.
