I volunteered at Washington UCC for many years helping to prepare meals for the homeless with Rev Jim. Such a wonderful man and example to all of us. He made great meals from less than perfect food that he somehow obtained for free. He could work wonders in the kitchen and in our hearts. I loved his piano playing and songs especially the one about boats in the harbor. His life was his message. I will forever be thankful for my time with Rev Jim.

I was most fortunate and blessed to have worked with Reverend Jim in Camp Washington several years ago and later I reconnected with him when he was the host at the Hofbrauhaus in Newport Kentucky. He was a very kind soft-hearted man and will be missed. RIP Rev. Jim

Jim was a long time friend of my family. My father Otto Artopoeus was a UCC minister in NKY and worked with Jim through UCC Assembly and Council Christian Communion. Both these groups supported Jim's ministry at Washington UCC Cincinnati. As a pastor at St. John UCC in Bellevue, KY my father supported Jim's Christmas program by gathering items needed for the outreach program Jim created at Washington UCC.
When I graduated from college Jim became one of my contacts for my resume. Not sure if anyone contacted him but was assured by Jim a glowing reference would be given.
I attended two of Jim's birthday parties he held while he worked at the Hofbrauhaus. I felt honored to be on his guest list.
Jim will be missed by so many people through lives he touched. Thank you for your friendship, ministry and love for everyone no matter what race, age, and economic background.

Jim played and sang at my father's retirement luncheon at St. John UCC back in 1987.

Rev. Jim was an incredible person. He changed my life in so many positive ways. Through OSFYM I found a community that accepted me for who I am, (and liked me anyway!). OSFYM friendships are some of the oldest friendships that I have. I was able to contact Jim several months ago - even with the separation since the reunion - Jim remembered me and we had a very good visit. I will never forget him.

Blessings to Jims family and to all his many his many friends.

Pastor Jim Egberts idea to spread the message of love for and aid to our fellow man through music and skits performed by a group of teenagers at the Ohio State Fair touched many lives. I was lucky enough to be one of those teens. Jim taught us the value and importance of service to the marginalized and underserved; a lesson I passed on to my children. The flame that Jim ignited will continue to burn brightly and grow.

Jim was the first youth pastor I remember at Pilgrim UCC in Cincy. He encouraged me while facing my parent divorce while I was a teen. I always loved going to see his group at the state fair. I will truely miss him with all my heart. I have a trivet that says "Celebrate Life", one of Jim's many songs, I will really cherish it now. Thanks Jim for all you gave to me.
