Amy Astrauskas Obituary

Astrauskas, Amy E. (Golia)
Amy Golia Astrauskas- Mother, Wife, Grandmother, and Everyone's Friend, age 63, of Litchfield County CT, passed away March 3rd 2021, in her home from stage IV Inflammatory Breast Cancer.
Amy was born November 14th 1957 in Wallingford CT, to Rita and Oreste Golia. She was a proud graduate of Mark T. Sheehan High School where she was head of the Pep Club. A graduate of Post University, where she was a cheer captain, her pep for life continued on. In her early adulthood, Amy was an adored elementary art teacher; she shared her passion for both creativity and children. Amy was a woman who truly loved life and refused to let cancer stand in her way. When she was diagnosed with a rare inflammatory breast cancer in 2007 (for her second time), she made it her life's mission to support, guide, research, and inspire women with breast cancer, not just to those she knew, but to countless women all around the United States. Amy's warm heart, enthusiasm, infectious laughter, and positive outlook was just some of her most precious qualities.
Amy found beauty in everything she did and everywhere she went. Her favorite pastimes included spending time with her family, her dearest "besties" Anita and Curt Russell, her Wallingford friends since high school (Class of '76) and close Goshen and Florida friends and family. Amy had a love for party planning, interior decorating, floral design, gift giving, music, Broadway shows, dancing to a great beat, and laughter. So much laughter.
Amy is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Leonard Astrauskas, her children who she adored, Michael Creighton (spouse Caitlin Creighton), Emily Creighton, and step children, Joseph and Katie Astrauskas. Her greatest pride and joy are her two grandbabies, Landon and Liam Creighton. Being their Gigi was her favorite accomplishment of all.
A very special thank you to her Oncologist Dr. Beth Overmoyer and the tireless team at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Amy was a woman of many words, however, there aren't enough words in the world to describe the immense amount of love and light she will leave behind. She taught us all how to love, how to laugh, and how to live. May we all be a little bit more like Amy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Amy on Saturday April 10th at Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South St., Litchfield, CT.

Our heartfelt condolences to Lenny, Emily, Michael, Caitlin and the whole family. I fondly remember visiting my grandmother and aunts in Florida, neighbors of Oreste and Rita, being “shown the town nightlife” by Amy. Always a joyous time! Amy, a very special lady, who never forgot to send a card or make a phone call to check in. Although I know you all will miss her terribly, I know that her reunion with her sister and parents must be joyous!! AND her long battle of exhaustion and pain has now let her rest. We will forever keep her, and you all too, in our prayers.

From your Post College friends Mary, Michele and Karen. Thanks to you, we were all together for lunch in May of 2019. You were one in a million and we love you!

Amy, from reading her obit, was a remarkable lady. I would have enjoyed being her friend.
I will say prayers while she is on her journey to Heaven.
Condolences to her family and all her friends.
RIP Amy, you’re with the Angels now and without pain and all the effects the body is subjected to with cancer. I know, I am where you were with this horrific disease.
Time for you to rest.

We have lost a classmate and an extraordinary human being. She was kind, creative and loving. I wish I had known her as all her lifelong besties did, but I am glad Our paths crossed so many years ago. She brought awareness to Inflammatory breast cancer and made a difference in the world. God bless you, Amy, and your family and friends. Heaven most assuredly has gained an angel. ❤

Over 50 years with this amazing women.

Being a year younger than my sister Laurette I had the gift of knowing Amy from the day her and Laur became the deepest of friends. I have laughed with her at many at the events the high school gang would have. And I have shed some tears with her. About two years ago we had lunch together with some of the high school gang and we learned we were on the same page politically. From then on we would message each other every couple of months and pray for change last November.
I am lucky I got to see her at lunch last September.

I wrote to her at the end of January telling her how much all us Skalicky girls loved her and what a gift she had been to all of us. And just like Amy she wrote back complimenting me.❤

Lenny, Michael, Emily, joseph and Katie and grandchildren. Thank you for sharing your beautiful wife and Mom/Grandmother with so many of us.
My deepest sorrows for all of you. We hold all of you and dear Amy in our hearts.

Amy, Len and Emily brought such warmth into our home during Sunday morning choir rehearsals in preparation for many past Christmases. Always encouraging to those around her, and especially the children, Amy uplifted us all with her elegant style, her kind words and her beautiful smile. Her memory will remain with our family amid the Christmas tree ornaments she so kindly gifted us, and in the music that returns each December to remind us of past joys and everlasting childhoods. May she Rest In Peace. Our condolences to Len, Emily and all of the family she leaves behind. What a most glorious angel Amy must be. Sincerely, the Shea family, Vienna, Austria.
