Brian Ridley Obituary

Brian Charles Ridley

Brighton - Brian Charles Ridley, age 73, passed away peacefully at home February 14, 2021.

Brian will be lovingly remembered by: his wife, Gail Ridley of twenty years; daughters, Sara and Anna; mother, Regina; siblings, Bruce, Deirdre, Donica, and Denise; and numerous other family members and friends. Brian is preceded in death by: his father, John; and sister, Delilah. He was a loving son-in-law to Phyllis Gilday.

Brian was born December 9, 1947, to Regina and John Ridley in Minnesota and the family moved to Brighton in 1960. He graduated from Brighton High School and obtained a bachelor's degree from Concordia University. Brian devoted over forty years at Ford's Wixom Assembly Plant. He proudly served as the President of the Wellston Boosters Association in Wellston. He enjoyed giving back to the community's youth through philanthropy and could be found serving breakfast at the community center.

Brain had a passion for food and enjoyed cooking. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening and was always ready for a round of euchre. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, in Irons, Michigan. Brian was an avid water skier and was a member of Tivoli Lake, where he participated in competitive slalom and jump.

Brian was dedicated to family and friends. Community was an important part of his life, in Wellston, and he enjoyed the last of his years living among his favorite fishing spot with his wife, Gail. The absence of Brian's storytelling and sociable personality will leave a somber void on the water and docks of his community, but his spirit will always live in our hearts and the outdoors, which he loved so much.

Funeral services will be conducted March 1st, 2021 at Saint Patrick Catholic Parish in Brighton, Michigan. Visitation will be held 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the narthex, followed by mass at 1 p.m.

Brian is my cousin, and it has been years since I have seen him. I do recall traveling from Massachusetts to the Ridleys' house in Brighton and seeing Brian in his teen years. My deepest sympathy is with the entire family. May your loving memories live on in your hearts forever and continue to bring you comfort.

I remember Brian back at St Pats and then Brighton High School. I did leave High School in my sophmore year due to a family location and job change for dad. Always liked Brian with his sense of humor and clear thinking

I have known Brian for over 30 years of the 40 years that I spent at the Lincoln plant in Wixom. He was my supervisor for many years and never once had a problem with him. He was always very sincere and helpful to everyone. I was repairman in pre-delivery when He was my supervisor. My condolences to the family and his passing I’m sure he will be missed and loved by many. RIP Brian your friend Frank

Brian was a supervisor of mine at the Wixom Plant. He never showed that he took things to seriously which made him a favorite to work for. He amazed me for the fact that when any area was short handed he was able to handle and hold down any job on the assembly line. Always had something funny to say. Bless his family.

So many memories; our families spent many holidays together and our children grew up together. You always will be my favorite brother-in-law. You were like a brother to Russ and his favorite fishing buddy. You two had so many adventures! I heard many stories.
All these memories will live on in our hearts. You will always be with us.
With love,
Lynn Thompson and Family

So sorry to Brian's family and friends. I had the privilege of having Brian as a supervisor at Wixom Ford plant. He was a good friend, always kinda and helpful. We laughed outloud alot, he just didn't take it all that seriously, as a supervisor that was rare lol well he was special that way.
