Frank Jacinto Obituary

Frank Lawrence Jacinto passed away September 6, 2015, surrounded by his family. Frank was born in Lodi, California on May 16, 1921. He lived in Lodi all his life with the exception of his time in the military. He graduated from Lodi High School in 1939. He attended Cal Poly and played baseball for them for the year prior to his military service. Frank married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jane Tolliver, on May 30, 1941. Shortly after marrying, they were employed as civilians at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo. In their early married life, during World War II, they were stationed in Roswell, New Mexico and then in Point Hueneme, California. During the Korean War they were stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. Following the Korean War they returned to Lodi. He was very proud of his 3 honorable discharges from the Army in 1946, the Navy in 1951 and the Air Force in 1953. After returning to Lodi he began his journey to receive his Bachelor of Arts from Sacramento State in 1958, followed by his Masters from UOP in 1964. After graduation he worked as a teacher for the Lincoln Unified School District and as a principal at Turner School in Lodi. He continued his path in education working as a counselor and teacher at Calaveras High School in San Andreas, CA. He retired after 40+ years in education from San Joaquin Delta College where he worked as a guidance counselor.
Frank and Jane enjoyed traveling to the Southwest, fishing in Fort Bragg, and visiting grandkids when they lived in other parts of the country. They also went on several Elderhostel trips. They traveled well into their 80s. Frank loved fishing, hunting, gardening, boating and going on long drives.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Frank Jacinto and Theresa Riegel, loving wife of 74 years who passed away July 31, 2015, Mary Jane Jacinto, and siblings: Ray Reynolds and Bernice White. He leaves behind his daughter Janine, and son Keith (Maurie). Frank also leaves behind his grandchildren: Andy, Melanie (Moses), Breanna (John David), Nate, Brindy (Nathaniel), Brooke, Allie and Keifer, and great grandchildren: Logan, Andrew, Camden, Cruz and Luca.

Mr. Jacinto was my 7th grade teacher and Principal at Turner School in the early 60s. He was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humor. Fast forward many years to several years ago when I was Principal of Reese School. I worked with Mr. Jacinto's son, Keith, who was one of our teachers on staff. Mr. Jacinto would come into the office at Reese and make a special effort to visit with me. He was still a kind man and always had a funny story to tell me. Although he told me to start calling him Frank, I could never do it. He remained Mr. Jacinto to me. I am sorry for your loss, Keith, and for that of the rest of the Jacinto family. He was a great guy.
