Garman Guthrie Obituary

Garman V. Guthrie, 93, was born in Maryville, MO to Glenn and Dora Guthrie on March 16, 1917 and passed away February 15, 2021. His family moved to Lodi, CA when he was six years old. He attended school in Lodi and served in the US Navy in the Asian Pacific.
Garman was married to Agnes Gaub for 30 years and had a son, Gary and daughter, Linda. All have preceded him in death.
Garman owned and operated a body shop, towing and auto salvage yard and farmed a grape vineyard in the Stockton and Lodi area until his retirement. He married Anna Marie Johnson in1985. After Anna's retirement, they traveled in their motorhome for a year and a half visiting most states and parts of Canada. They found what he called his Utopia in Libby, MT in 1997. He enjoyed the beautiful Cabinet Mountains, the rivers and lakes, wild animals (especially those in his back yard), his yard and garden, fishing, motorcycling, flying, camping, traveling and working in his shop.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Anna; daughter-in-law, Kathy Guthrie; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two stepsons and their families.
A celebration of his life will be held in Lodi at a later date due to Covid restrictions.

Oh Anna I share your sadness. A friend and classmate. Be still and know that the Lord is with you

February 27, 2021

I met Gary Guthrie when we were about 15 years old, and his father, Garman or Gus not long after that. That was 55 years ago. His daughter Linda and son Gary died way too soon, and I know Gus missed them greatly. Gus would always stop and visit me at my shop on his visits from Montana, and bring his friend, Tom Jordon, who I knew since I was 9 Years old. I miss them both. Gus is now visiting with Tom again, and more important he is with son and daughter again !! RIP Gus, we will meet again. Doak Bentz.
