ALAN BARTLETT ARMSTRONG

Alan was born in Yonkers to Joseph Bartlett Armstrong and Margaret Pearce. He grew up in Scarsdale and graduated from Scarsdale High School and joined the Army. After serving his country he attended and graduated from Hobart College in Geneva N.Y. He worked for Dun & Bradstreet as a Credit Analyst and retired at the age of 62. He then pursued his true calling as a volunteer at St. Johns Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, N.Y. where he served for over twenty years. He also served on the Session and Board of Deacons of the First Presbyterian Church of Yonkers and then the Good Shepherd Church in Yonkers N.Y.Against doctor's orders, an avid Mets fan, Alan got a Mets tattoo at the age 85. With the encouragement of a dear friend who shall remain nameless, he had planned on getting a Jets tattoo this summer. Alan had a sister, Molly and a brother Kenneth who are deceased. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Margaret Sheets Armstrong, daughter of Ethelyn and Elmer Sheets Jr, A loving sister Margaret Armstrong of Hastings-on-Hudson and sister-in-law Carolyn Sheets of Catsonville MD. He has two children, a son Joseph Armstrong of White Plains and Carolyn Gazzetta of Briarcliff Manor; a son-in-law, Robert Gazzetta Sr., and two grandsons Christopher and William Gazzetta.
