Yonkers - Dr. Anna T Dolan Ahsen,86, died surrounded by family at St. Johns Riverside Hospital on Jan. 8, 2018 due to complications related to Leukemia. Ann was born on Aug. 18, 1931, in the Bronx, NY, to Hugh and Helen Dolan, who migrated there from Ireland at the turn of the century. She was one of six children. Ann was the first woman admitted to the St. Louis University School of Medicine. Upon graduation, she traveled to Rawalpindi, Pakistan to serve as the head surgeon missionary at Holy Family Hospital. This work was a calling for Ann that originated in her teenage years, when she first learned of the lack of medical care for women in that region due to the scarcity of female doctors and prevailing cultural norms.

Later, Dr. Dolan would work as a surgeon at Philadelphia General before moving to Yonkers in 1968 and taking a position at Yonkers General and then St. John's Riverside. She then retook her boards to specialize in psychiatry and neurology. During her career, she served as both Chief of Psychiatry and Vice-President of the Medical Board at St. Johns, in addition to her role as a member of the Board of Trustees. She conducted her private practice from her home in Park Hill, Yonkers.

Ann was loved by her family and friends, and would prove to be the rock upon which many have found comfort. She found joy in her family, especially Gabriel Hugo Wolf, her grandson of 9 years with whom she spent many afternoons playing, and whom she taught many things, just as she had taught her own children many years prior.

Anna is survived by her children Sophia and Osman, her husband Akhter, her grandson Gabriel, and her sisters Mary and Helen.
