ANTHONY PAPARELLA Obituary

PAPARELLA, ANTHONY J.Anthony J. Paparella, a 45 year resident of Thornwood, NY died December 19, 2004. He was 74. He was born in White Plains, NY on December 30, 1929 the son of Vittorio and Maria (Conti) Paparella. Mr. Paparella served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married Adrienne (Pagliari) in White Plains, NY on July 22, 1956. She died in 2003. He was the former owner of the Old Village Press in Thornwood for over 30 years. At the time of his death, he was employed as a crossing guard for Mt. Pleasant Schools in Valhalla. An active member of Thornwood Fire Department for over 41 years, he served as Company President, Commissioner, Chaplin and also served on various committees. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne. Mr. Paparella was the former Water Commissioner for the Thornwood Water District. He is survived by his children, Cathy Graziani of Yorktown Heights, NY, Adrienne Prebeck of Cary, NC and Joseph Paparella of Hawthorne, NY; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Frances Romanchick and a brother Chris Paparella. Visiting hours Tuesday and Wednesday 4-8 pm at Beecher Funeral Home, Pleasantville, NY. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 10 am, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, NY. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne. In lieu of flowers, donations to Thornwood Fire Department Benevolent Association would be appreciated.
