Dorothy Bond Obituary
Dorothy Bond, 95, of Congers, N.Y. passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 with her loving family by her side. She was born June 1, 1918 to Willie and Leonora (DeLara) Betsch in Mt. Vernon NY. Dorothy was married to the late Frank Bond for 65 years. They retired to Jackson, New Jersey where she created the "Jackson Special" and the Money Bowl treat for her grandchildren (1 scoop but you couldn't turn your wrist). Dorothy was an active parishioner at St. Paul's Church. She loved walking at Congers Lake Park and watching the sunsets and views from her lakeside bench. She enjoyed going to Kennelly's Restaurant for dinner on Saturday night and digging into the nachos and cheese. Most of all she enjoyed her family and was beloved by all.
She is survived by her sons Ed (Roseann) Bond of Congers and Gene (Tecia) Bond of Scottsdale, Arizona; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Gerry) Barucco, Ed Bond, Veronica (Ralph) Coloma, Matthew (Michelle) Bond, Daniel (Elizabeth) Bond and eight great grandsons. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Dorothy is predeceased by her sisters, Grace Nagy, and Edith Brischler.
A wake will be held on November 24th at Higgins Funeral Home, 113 Lake Rd., East Congers, NY 10920 Sunday, 3-6 p.m. Funeral Service Mass will be held at St. Paul's Church Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, New Jersey.
