Gina Hauenstein Obituary

Hauenstein, Gina 58, of Orlando, FL passed away on March 11, 2014. She was born April 20, 1955 in Jackson, TN to B.F. and Regina (Peeler) Mullins. Gina graduated from University of Tennessee with her bachelor's degree. She was known for her great sense of humor and for being a faithful friend and loving mother to her son. Gina volunteered countless hours at the West Orange Christian Service Center thrift shop alongside many of those friends with whom she shared walks with and maybe even an occasional tropical cosmo. She was always the person people reached out to for advice on everything from their children to what dress they should wear to the next Gala/Wedding/Bar Mitzvah or Birthday Celebration. Gina loved sitting on the patio of her Windermere home talking on the phone for hours on end with friends, family and her mother. She was always interested in hearing about what was happening in everyone's lives. She lived for that! Gina is preceded in death by her father, B.F. Mullins. Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Gregory J. Hauenstein; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and (Madison Orr) Hauenstein; mother, Regina Mullins and sister, Carol Gilchrist. A Celebration of Gina's Life will be held at the Buena Vista Palace Hotel in venue 20SEVEN on Wed., March 19, 2014 at 3 pm. A private family graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's United Methodist Church Youth Group, 4851 S. Apopka Vineland Rd., Orlando, FL 32819. Arrangements entrusted to Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. 407-293-1361. Condolences may be offered at www.woodlawnfuneralhomegotha.com.

It is times like these that words sometimes cannot adequately express our love, feelings and memories of our treasured Aunt Gina. Our last memory of her was in her beautiful dress, glowing with absolute radiant love at Gregory and Madison's wedding. The love she has for her family broke through every hardship, pain and trial. Everything about her exuded love, compassion and strength. I think God was preparing her and perhaps she knew she was ready to fly. We love you Aunt Gina. Ricky, Carrie, Kira, Myra & Caleb

Dearest Greg, Gregory, Madison, Regina and Carol,

Jeff and I are so saddened by the news of Gina's Passing. Gina was a fabulous and very generous friend. She and I met when we worked together in Longwood, Florida. Gina was always generous with her time and with kind words. Gina was great to be around because she always saw things from a different and humorous twist!!

Gina and I were pregnant together and remained friends throughout these past 30 years.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

Much love,

Patricia and Jeff James

Our girls weekend's at the beach will always be special to me. The long walks on the beach and total acceptance to just relax together was a gift. I will always appreciate Gina's style, grace and friendship.

March 17, 2014

Greg I am so very sorry to hear of Gina's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Gregory (and family). I will remember Gina as a great lady whom I had the pleasure of meeting through Patsy James. She will be missed by all who crossed her path in life. I am out of town or would come on Wednesday night to help celebrate her life. Sherry Dreibelbiis (Orlando, Fl)

Gina pledged ZTA at UTM the year after I did. We later shared an apt. at Andy Holt, and I have countless fun memories of good times at UT. Gina could be so much fun one minute and the studious scholar the next. I remember her cat, TL, and Mr. BF taking us for a ride in their boat (too cold to ski). I miss your laugh and smile that lit up the room. Creeda

I met Gina in 1973 at UT Martin when we were both pledging Zeta Tau Alpha. Our lives continued to cross at UT Knoxville all the way to both living in FL. The family vacations at Sanibel, St Simons and time spent was always fun. You were an easygoing, witty, gracious, beautiful redhead. The memories from college of you having yourself paged at the hour glass so everyone would know you were there to meeting me on I Drive when I was in Orlando, make me smile. You are a gracious angel in Heaven as on earth. My prayers for Greg and Gregory and family. You are missed.

What fun we had as neighborhood children on Villa Drive and at Canasta Club events. Although we remained in touch as adults only through our mothers, I have such a fondness for Gina and her infectious smile. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

Gina was one of my college roommates at UT-Knoxville back in the late 70's.She had the most beautiful red hair I had ever seen.We had so many fun times together I would not know where to start.Trips to Gatlnburg..eating out...gossiping and so much more.Even though we had not seen each other in over 20 yrs we kept in touch via email.I am shocked at her sudden passing because she had been doing so much better. But I have a lot of wonderful memories of our times together.May GOD bless all of her family.Melody Waller

About 42 years ago my dear friend Gina introduced me to my future wife and then nagged me until I finally asked the young lady out. Thanks to Gina, we are still together today and you she is still in our hearts as well. Greg, I am proud to call you friend and so grateful that you became the love of her life, a better man she could not have found. We ache with you and love you friend.

Hey Gina. I can't believe we are doing this. You always made me laugh and your giggle was infectious. One of my fondest memories between us is all the Disney things you would find and send to me. The last one not to long ago I carry with me every day. So your always there. And do you remember all the dresses you bought Lauren? I was just looking at the pictires the other day. I think I still have them too!!! You my dear are such a special person with an amazing heart to so many. We will miss you so very much. Will be thinking about you and will always be here for Greg and Gregory. Say hi to mom and dad and Mark and so many others your dad too. I can't wait to see you again. Love you always Mary Lauren and Matt

My dear friend, I already miss you but I know God has welcomed you with open arms . Compassionate, caring, sensitive, warm, kind, funny, intelligent, smart, loving, considerate, generous, all these attributes together don't even start to describe the person she was. My heart aches right now for her presence, but the memories of seventeen years of friendship help me to go on. Let's focus today on the wonderful times we shared with Gina on the BVA playground, around the pool at the hotel and at her first house on Oakdale Street, in field trips, at birthday parties, out to lunch at Yellow Dog, Perkins and Aoba (sometimes even at Season's 52) and walking down the dirt roads in Windermere. I also remember the late afternoon chit chats over the phone, the worries about the science fair, the rush to buy Gregory's sandwich before 2 pm, the excitement of the luxury suite at the hotel while the kids were at homecoming, the predictable Friday night sleepovers at my house, the inseparables Gregory, Alberto, Ryan, Steven and Patrick, the Chess Club, the Boy Scout meetings, the campings at La Noche, the trip to Yellowstone, Youth Group at St. Luke's, the Tuesdays at the thrift shop, the endless gossip, the southern accent .......

Gina,

You always made me smile or chuckle or laugh. Your wit was instant! You have been a wonderful sister-law to me through all these years. Most especially in the last year as we planned my son's wedding. You even helped me shop for a dress from afar. You will remain a beacon for me as we all journey to where you are now. And rest assure, we will watch over Greg and Gregory and be there for them as time goes by. We love you through our tears and beyond. Jeanne and Matt

To My Sister,
As I try to make sense of your passing, I'm reminded of happy childhood memories...family trips to Pensacola each summer with the two of us fighting in the back seat.

Three years of prayers and frustration came to a sudden end on Tuesday, & in an instant..you were gone. But I know Daddy was waiting for you..along with Mema and Granddaddy, Bigmama and Granddaddy, and Greg's parents..the Hauenstein's.

We had just shared two precious family photos recently...one of Daddy inside a B-29 in WWII, and our grandmother's wedding gown from 1908.

Thru tears and a broken heart,I wrote these words for you:
A cardinal came to my window today
And turned his head as if to say
Your little sister's life lives on..
Treasure her memory
She is not gone.

Jesus holds you safely in his arms now, and I will always carry a part of you in my heart. Rest in Heavenly Peace, my little sister. A beautiful red haired angel will always be by our side. All my love, Carol
