JOHN SINNOTT Obituary
John J. Sinnott, 75, of Darien, CT and former 30-year resident of Rye, died December 20, 2002 in Stamford, CT. Born August 1, 1927 in Tarrytown, NY to the late John J. Sinnot, Jr. and the late Louise M. Deely Sinnott. Mr. Sinnott graduated from White Plains High School. He received his BA degree from the University of Miami in 1951. Mr. Sinnott served in the US Army from 1945 to 1946. He worked for 43 years: 1951-1994 in the advertising business in New York City, working for such companies as BBDO, Ted Bates (where he remained for 17 years, assuming the position of VP Media Director). He moved to Bristol-Myers Co. where he was Manager of Media Planning and finally, 11 years at Modern Maturity magazine as an advertising sales executive until his retirement in 1994. Since retirement, he has been working as a real estate broker with Henningsen Real Estate Co. and most recently, with Prudential Connecticut Realty in Darien, CT. Mr. Sinnott was a member of the Wild Geese, the Darien Senior Men's Association and a member of St. John R.C. Church in Darien, CT. While living in Rye, NY, he was active in Resurrection Church and The United Way. He was also a member of the Shenorock Club in Rye. Mr. Sinnott is survived by his wife, Barbara P. Sinnott of Darien, CT; daughters: Colleen Powers of Rye, Louise Stocker of New York City; stepdaughter Diana Angstadt of Port Chester, NY; stepsons Jeffrey Northcutt of Stamford, CT and Douglas Northcutt of London, England. He is also survived by a sister, Ann Considine of Savannah, GA, a brother, Michael Sinnott of Stratford, CT, four grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT on Sunday, December 22, 2002 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John RC Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien, CT on Monday, Decmeber 23, 2002 at 10 AM, Father Michael Jude Fay officiating. A private family interment will take place at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Sleepy Hollow, NY.
