Nicholas Turturro Obituary
Irvington - Nicholas James Turturro 98, of Irvington, NY passed away on March 31, 2018 at N.Y.S Veterans Home in Montrose. Nicholas was born on March 20, 1920 in Croton, NY to the late Cecelia and Michael Turturro of Croton. He is predeceased by his parents, wife Josephine Verlingieri of 50 years, sisters Catherine DePalma, Anna Connolly and his brother Frank Turturro. Nicholas is survived by his brother Joseph (Dolores) Turturro of Croton, daughter Elizabeth Godfrey DiGiaimo of Florida, 5 grandchildren, 11 Greatgrandchildren and two great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Nicholas graduated from Croton Harmon High School in 1939. He proudly served in the United States Navy See Bees in World War II from 1943-1946. He was a member of the American Legion. Nicholas worked as a Machinist for the New York Central Penn Railroad from 1939-1981. He was an avid gardener and Mets fan, as well as a devoted parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Irvington. Nick will forever be remembered for his great kindness, generosity, warmth and smile. Reposing, Dwyer & Vanderbilt Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4PM & 7-9PM. Funeral Mass, Immaculate Conception Church, Irvington, NY on Friday at 10 AM. Interment, Bethel Cemetery, Croton, NY to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in Nick's name to the Irvington Senior Center would be appreciated.

We love you Uncle Nick. I have great memories of visiting you and Aunt Josie. I am inspired by your awesome garden full of peppers, tomatoes and eggplants. I will think of you as I grow my tomatoes out here in Chicago this summer with cousin Chris DePalma.
