ROSE ARMIENTO Obituary
Rose (Fanelli) Armiento, a lifelong resident of White Plains, passed away on November 28, 2004 at the Westchester Medical Center. She fought a courageous battle against breast cancer. We appreciated the never ending and caring support of Dr. Abe Mittleman, Cindy Temple and their entire staff. Rose was born on June 10, 1940 to the late Frank and Maria Teresa Fanelli. Rose is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jack Armiento. They were married at Mount Carmel Church in White Plains on June 21, 1964; her son Joseph Armiento and her daughter-in-law Patty; her daughter Maria Armiento-DeMaria, son-in-law Tony and her precious "Little Miss Peanuts" granddaugter Antonia Rose. She is also survived by her sisters Elizabeth Scarlatella of White Plains, Theresa DiMarzo of Elmsford, Stella Torres of East White Plains, Grace Battaglia of Oak Ridge, NJ and her brothers Dominick Fanelli of White Plains and Anthony Fanelli of East White Plains. Many many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews each of whom held a very special and unique place in her heart. Rose was predeceased by her brothers Graziano, Vincent, Frank and Joseph Fanelli and her sister Mary Caruba. Rose spent her entire career, over 40 years, working in the insurance field providing her clients with the best expertise and customer service anywhere. She started off with Alan B. Stevens Agency, then embarked on a special association with Harold Mercer, Jr. that lasted three decades. Rose achieved her dream of opening her own agency - The Rose Armiento Insurance Agency - which she successfully ran for two decades until proudly joining the team at Gabriel Bundschuh & Associates over a year ago when her illness began to get the best of her. Even at the end she was always looking out for her clients making sure that even after her passing, her clients would be taken care of. Possibly Rose's most satisfying work was her volunteering for over 30 years at her children's school and parish, Our Lady of Sorrows, where she served diligently and made significant contributions. Over the years, she served in various positions on the Women's Guild, Parish Council, The Ladies Auxiliary and various special committees. One of Rose's deepest loves was that of reading. She was forever proud of the fact that she taught "The Great Books Discussion Program" at the school. Rose's crowning achievement though was the Annual Cadillac Raffle Fundraiser which she was responsible for running for 25 years. She spent months out of every year organizing, planning and running the most successful fundraiser at the school and church. The Raffle raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the school and church , but more importantly was a fun event the whole parish looked forward to attending every year. Rose was a rare and an exceptional woman who gave of herself to others with her heart, love, laughter and kindness. We are all blessed to have shared her warmth, smiles and her heart of gold in our lives. Rose will be deeply missed by all, but will always be in our hearts. Donations can be made to the Susan B. Koman Cancer Foundation. Visiting will be Tuesday and Wednesday at McMahon Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home, White Plains 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass Thursday 10 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in White Plains. McMAHON LYON & HARTNETT FUNERAL HOME 491 Mamaroneck Ave. White Plains (914) 949-7777
