Tom was among a vanishing number of the original, life-long natives of West Nyack, and one of the few farmers in Rockland County. An era is passing. I spent my childhood on his farm back when Tom's father was alive.I remember the rabbits and chickens.

Tom Schimpf was an inspiring man. He was good and generous, independent, hardworking and positive. He aspired to do well with his endeavors, but took no short-cuts and resisted easy options. He endured some failures and disappointments. Schimpf's Farm has survived as a special place for many. Tom was a model for his family and his friends, even given occasional differences. In all these ways, he accomplished much. He was amiable and enjoyed a good conversation. He was among a diminishing number of old-time, long-time residents of our community, a perceptive witness to the changes, for better or worse, of the last fifty years. He will be missed and remembered.

Very sorry to hear of Mr. Schimpf's passing. Like many in the area, the farm was part of my childhood. Working now as I am in agriculture as part of local cultures, I appreciate more than ever the contributions he made to the community. My deepest sympathies to the family.

Our sympathy to Tom's dear family. The farm has been part of our family's spring and summer ritual of buying "the best" plants and produce for many decades. Tom and the farm were one. I'll miss seeing him on our frequent trips there. May he rest in peace.

We are so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. We now live in California and often think of Schimps and the warm memory of Tom and Kelly's friendly hello as we purchased flowers and vegetables for our home in New York! May the family be blessed with peace at this sad time! Paul & Patty Devine

To the Schimpf Family
I am so sorry to hear about your loss.. I will truly miss him.. I will miss his little comments when I would come to the farm.. What do you want, your back again!!! I enjoyed our spirited conversations about life and its stresses and you know how he felt about that... I have many plants that came from Schimpfs as many West Nyackers do and I will treasure the memories of my visits there and think of him always.
