David Eagar Obituary

David Melvin Eagar

1937 - 2022

David Melvin Eagar was born December 27, 1937 in Holbrook, AZ and passed away October 16, 2022 in Solvang, CA, after bravely battling Alzheimer 's disease.

Dave was the oldest of three children and moved at a very young age with his parents from Eagar, AZ to Santa Monica, CA. He spent his growing up years in Santa Monica, graduating from Santa Monica High School.

He married Judith Chippendale and not long after, they moved to Lompoc, CA. Dave worked in various capacities throughout his career including Cable Splicer and Lineman for GTE/Verizon in Lompoc, Santa Maria and the Santa Ynez Valley. He took a lot of pride in his cable splicing skills. Dave enjoyed being part of the team that installed the underground phone lines that were a requirement at Ronald Reagan's ranch after he became President.

Dave and Judy had four children, Denise, Steve, Lauree and Brad. He enjoyed coaching and watching his sons play sports, especially baseball. Dave was especially proud of, and loved, attending his sons' collegiate baseball games.

Dave was a member and past president of the Active 20-30 Club in Lompoc, as well as an Elks Lodge member for 52 years.

Dave later met and married the love of his life, Pamela Marlett. They settled in Santa Ynez, CA with Pam's young daughter, Jen. Dave had many hobbies. He was a coin collector, raised cutting horses, had his private pilot's license, golfed, snow-skied, and had a life-long love of cars.

Dave and Pam were married for 44 years and enjoyed many happy years playing golf and traveling the world together. They especially enjoyed having their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren visit them. Many happy memories were made during those visits.

Dave was a sweet, calm, kind-hearted soul. He loved his dogs and is sorely missed by his Jack Russell, Skeeter.

Dave spent the last year of his life in the care of The Friendship House in Solvang, CA. In true Dave Eagar style, he had many devoted friends there.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Mel and Evelyn Hodge Eagar, and his sister Patricia Eagar Reseigh. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Pam along with his children: Denise (Bill) Groves, Stephen (Michele) Eagar, Lauree (Alan) Kirkham, Bradley (Nichole) Eagar, and Jennifer (Mike) Hernandez. Dave is also survived by 20 adoring grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson. Dave is survived by his brother, Ron (Karen) Eagar.

Interment is at Oak Hill Cemetery, Santa Ynez on Saturday, November 5th, 2022 at 3pm.

The family would like to thank the beautiful souls at The Friendship House who loved and cared for Dave this last year. In lieu of flowers, Dave would be honored to have donations made in his name to The Friendship House, 880 Friendship Lane, Solvang, CA 93463, or through their website www.solvangfriendshiphouse.com/the-friendship-house-difference/
