Tommy Hatcher Obituary

Tommy Hatcher, 93, of Berryville, Virginia, died Friday, March 14, 2025, at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Tommy was born April 16, 1931 in Purcellville, VA, the son of Tom and Naome Hatcher.

Tommy grew up in the town of Purcellville and attended Purcellville Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School. He attended Fishburne Military School for one year in the ROTC program. He then completed a two-year drafting course at Columbia Tech in Washington, DC. He worked as a draftsman for the Navy Department for two years and then worked at DECO Electronics in Leesburg as a draftsman.

In 1954, he was drafted into the Army and was stationed at American Headquarters in Paris, France where he served for eighteen months as a cryptologist. Before his departure,

he married Nancy Jean Miller, also from Purcellville, and she accompanied him during his service in Paris.

Tommy worked for the Town of Purcellville as a Deputy Sheriff for five years and joined the Rescue Squad in Hamilton for thirteen years.

Other interests included playing baseball for the town of Purcellville after high school, followed by golf for many years at Loudoun Golf and Country Club in Purcellville and special tournaments locally and distant.

Tommy worked with his father at Hatcher's Plumbing and Heating located in Leesburg until they sold the business in the early 1980s. He transitioned into Real Estate beginning in 1971 until 2015 working the majority of that time in the Hamilton office now known as Berkshire Hathaway.

Tommy was a faithful member of the Hamilton Baptist Church from the mid 1980s where he served in different ministries throughout his life and loved his church family.

He was preceded in death, by his wife, Nancy, and son-in-law, Mark Cochran. He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Cochran, of Berryville, VA. Tommy Hatcher
