She was born December 7, 1923 in Washington, Indiana. Early in her life she graduated from both Washington High School and Indianapolis Beauty College. After raising her family Betty was a proud retiree of Walgreens Drug Store with Thirty years of service. Walgreens was always her second home and she adored her co-workers and found much joy in greeting her customers.

Betty is survived by her husband, Americus "Joe" Hedden and they were happily married for 69 years. She is also survived by her son, Mark Hedden and her daughter Julie Gathof; grandchildren, Scott Hedden, Kyle Gathof, Brandon Gathof and Mackenzie Gathof; great grandchildren, Amber Maupin, Hunter Maupin, Ethan Hedden and Eli Gathof. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Billie Maupin.

Betty was a faithful member of Beechmont United Methodist Church for over fifty years which is now Epworth United Methodist Church in Louisville, KY. She also looked forward to serving others through her church and found much happiness with her Christian walk with God. She will always be remembered for her compassion, love and humor. There was always a smile and a funny story to share with others.

A service celebrating Betty's life will be held 11 a.m. Monday June 15, 2013 at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Hwy. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Heartfelt sympathy to Joe, Julie and family. Betty was such an important part of my growing up years and I will never forget her. She was my mother's best friend for as long as I can remember and was truly a part of our family. My Aunt Bett! She was one of the sweetest and funniest people I've ever known. Let your happy memories of her give you strength during this very sad time.

Betty was one of the most caring and fun person I ever worked with. She always made me laugh. No matter what was going on in her own life she always thought of others. She found only good in people. Love you Betty

She was such a sweet lady. May god rest her soul. She had a heart of gold, my grandmother (Mary Faye Coakley) couldn't of had a better best friend and neighbor. We love you Betty. We love you Joe. Lots of prayers and our deepest sympathies.
