Darrin Wheeler Obituary
He was a self-employed Transport specialist with Wheeler Transport.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Wheeler; and grandmother, Alberta Curl.
Survivors include his wife, Kendra Gilpin Wheeler; mother, Linda Curl Wheeler; children, Craig Wheeler, Toni Wheeler and Dana Wheeler; brothers, Doug (Tracy) and Dennis Wheeler; grand-fur babies, Mufasa, Rocky, Gucci and Riley.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery with burial in Brookland Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home.
The family would like to request that memorial contributions in Darrin's name be directed to Hilltop Haven Animal Rescue, 1383 Bogard Lane, Mt. Washington, KY 40047 or Metzger c/o Woodstock Animal Rescue, 6791 Shelbyville Road, Simpsonville, KY 40067

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I got to know Darrin through my ex-husband, Clark Shoemaker, who worked with Darrin at Carnes for several years. I used to see him occasionally working security at Freedom Hall when I would attend concerts there. He would always speak & say hi when he saw me. I see you all the time at Freedom Elementary & I never realized you were Darrin's wife. My oldest daughter went to school with Craig for several years too. Your family will be in my prayers!

My name ia Jim Rowe i had the absolute pleasure of working with darrin for almost 11 years when i came off the road and started in the office here at carnes trucking it was Big D as i called him that helped me learn the ropes we worked in the dispatch office face to face as the desks we sat in faced each other!i will truly miss darrin and will think of him often.May god bless you kendra and your family and please know you are all in my prayers.

We were so saddened to hear the news of Darrin's untimely passing. Chris and I have fond memories of Darrin foremost of which was hearing him sing, "The Anchor Holds" at church. i haven't been able to find any words to say except darrin was and is a brother i never had.i had the opportunity to spend friday with him as we hadn't had a chance to do.little did i know what the future held.i love you man and i can only say that ther is a very,very,empty void in my life now! Darrin was just a big teddy bear and would do anything he could for you. I knew Darrin for about 13 years and I will miss him dearly. I know it seems bad right now but he is always with you ever time the sun comes out, it will be him smiling down on you. He was a ball of sunshine that would make you smile when you were down. To the Wheeler family,
I had the pleasure of working for and with Darrin for 3 years in safety. He was more than just my boss or co-worker he was my friend. He made each day pleasent and was there for me when I went through a family loss. My heart goes out to you and will keep you in my prayers. Just know that he was proud of his family and loved what he did each day. He was a role model to alot of drivers and will be missed deeply.

Darrin will be missed. I knew Darrin from the Carnes Atl office. I didn't get to see Darrin often but when he came down he always wore a smile and was always a pleasure to be around. I can't find the words to say about what a great person he was. He was someone who would listen and give his advice and then let make you own decisions from there. He was a friend and a good saftey director because he stood behind the drivers if they a problem with dispatch and their hrs. He was a great person and will be sadly moss he life was cut to short. Darrin was a great man that will truly be missed by all. We worked together for almost 14 years at Carnes and not a day went by without a joke or a smile (grin) or just a simple "hey man you doing okay today" Kendra, Craig, Toni, and Dana if you need anything at anytime don't think twice about calling just pick up the phone and call. We will be keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. Like in footprints, there were two sets of footprints then only one. look around you see only one set now? Keep the faith that is God carrying you thru this hard time.
