Evanthea Demoulas Obituary

Evanthea Demoulas of Dracut and Boca Raton, Florida; 79 Westwood Evanthea "Thea" (Koukias) Demoulas, 79, a resident of Dracut and also of Boca Raton, FL, a member of one of Greater Lowell's most prominent and respected families, and the loving wife of the late George A. Demoulas, died Friday evening, February 8th at Clark House in Westwood following a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born in Lowell, April 6, 1928, the daughter of the late Stephan and the late Gladys Koukias, attended Lowell Schools System and graduate of Lowell High School. In the mid-1940's, she was a former "Miss Lowell". Thea was an active member of the Greek Community in Lowell, serving on many committees and was well known for her enthusiasm and her uplifting and delightful spirit. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church as well as the Ladies Philopolitocos Society. Thea was the loving mother of Fotene J.Demoulas and her husband Thomas P. Cote of Boston, Arthur S. Demoulas of Boston, Diana D. Merriam and her husband Peter of Boxford and the Late Evan G. Demoulas; she was a loving grandmother of Stefan G. Merriam, Julia R. Demoulas, Nicholas P.Merriam, Evan G. Merriam, George E. Demoulas, Vanessa E. Demoulas, Danielle E. Demoulas, and Sophie F. Demoulas and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Evanthea is also survived by two bothers, Alex Koukias and his wife Erene, John Koukias,of Lowell, and four sisters, Mary Vasilopoulos, Effie Vassilakos, Helen Koumpouras and husband Nick, of Lowell, and Carol Wilkens, of Dunstable MA. Her sister-in-law Ann Burliss, and husband James of Kennebunk ME. DEMOULAS In Westwood, Feb, 8, 2008, at Clark House Evanthea G. (Koukias) Demoulas, 79, wife of the late George A. Demoulas. Friends are invited to call at the HOLY TRINITY GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH Lewis St. Lowell from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday. Her Funeral Service will be held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 10 o'clock. Burial in the Westlawn Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers, kindly make contributions in Evanthea's memory to Clark House, 30 Longwood Drive, Westwood, MA.
