Gary was born Dec. 16, 1946, to John Robert Greenway and Juanita (Richardson) Parker in Truman, Arkansas. He passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
On Nov. 24, 1973, he married the love of his life, Deborah (Yusko) Greenway. Gary worked as an overhead crane operator at Bethlehem Steel for 35 years until his retirement. During his retirement, Gary worked for IGA Steel and as a security guard for Blue Chip Casino.
Gary loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and boating. He liked watching all sports, playing golf and spending time with his family. Gary also liked gardening and cooking. His famous dish was his chocolate gravy.
Gary is survived by his wife, Debie; daughters, Julie Gumns and Melissa (Keely) Schalk; and sons, Richard (Julie) Thomas and Anthony (Monique) Greenway. Also surviving are grandsons, Rocky (Sara) Buchta, Luke Fredenburg, Cameron (Chandra Butler) Greenway and William Durnal; granddaughters, Amanda Buchta, Megan (Ian) Montgomery, Rachel (Jake Heslin) Fredenburg, Morgan Thomas, Emma Thomas and Katherine Thomas; and four great-grandsons, Alexander and Zachariah Montgomery, and Beau and Theo Buchta.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margie O'Bringer, Shirley Walker and Ann Evans; his brother, John Greenway; his daughter, Jennifer Buchta; and his grandson, Bradley Gumns.
Gary was a hardworking, protective family man. He is greatly loved and will be sorely missed. He will be cremated and laid to rest during a private family service.
Geisen-Carlisle Funeral and Cremation Service is handling the arrangements and friends and family can leave messages and condolences on their website. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
