"Precious Lord, Take my Hand."
"Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend."
Herman Claude Lehman of Trail Creek, Indiana, passed away on Jan. 6, 2024.
Born in Gary, Indiana, on Jan. 27, 1938, to Herman Sr. and Doris Lehman, Herman married his wife, Eula Faye, on Sept. 14, 1960.
Herman developed a love for electronics while working in a small shop in Gary, Indiana. He then served in the Marines from 1955–1959, where his passion for electronics flourished. Herman went to Treasure Island Naval Base in San Francisco to attend communication electronics schooling.
He was employed for over 30 years and retired from Bethlehem Steel in Burns Harbor. He enjoyed being a math tutor to local students and was an avid member of the public library. His love for music was extended in his devotion to local nursing homes following his retirement, as he enjoyed singing. He was also a member of the Fun Follies Singing Group.
He loved his flower garden and was known to sit and enjoy the colors outside awaiting the beautiful monarch butterflies. He had a heartfelt love for every kind of music and enjoyed sharing his love for music with his family.
He loved the outdoors including fishing, canoeing, golfing, shooting sports, camping, and hunting. He enjoyed long walks at his favorite parks, "pow wows" and car shows with his brother. He loved encouraging his grandchildren and great-grandchildren to always follow their dreams.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife to the Smoky Mountains and to Baja with his brother and wife. He greeted family with a welcoming smile and love so deep it was hard to explain. His love for the holidays and "cider and donuts" showed during his favorite time in the Fall on our annual family trips to the orchard.
Surviving are his spouse of 63 years, Eula Faye Lehman; daughter, Linda (Timothy) Waltz of Lebanon, Indiana; granddaughter, Amanda (Craig) Padgett of Rossville, Indiana; grandson, Zac (Abby) Waltz of Earl Park, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Jack Padgett, Grace Padgett, Logan Padgett, Elaina Waltz and Lilah Waltz; brothers, Robert (Sandy) Lehman of Portage, Indiana, and Martin (Monica) Lehman of Ramona, California.
Preceding in death were his sister, Carol (Jim) Paczolt; and parents, Herman Sr. and Doris Lehman.
